Getting to Little Deer Creek Campground requires commitment. The five-mile access road into this Wasatch Mountain State Park site is rough enough that multiple reviewers recommend four-wheel drive, and one noted the drive took about 30 minutes to cover those miles. High-clearance vehicles handle it without much trouble, but standard passenger cars may struggle, particularly if conditions are wet or soft.
Once in, the campground sits near a creek and is shaded by stands of aspen trees, giving sites a canopied feel. Sites have room to spread out, and the bathrooms are kept reasonably clean, with soap available at some. Full hookups including electric, water, and sewer are available for RVs up to 35 feet, and the campground is pet-friendly with campfires permitted. Reservations are accepted, which makes sense for a site that draws visitors from campgrounds around Midway and the broader Heber Valley area.
Cascade Springs is a nearby draw worth building into a visit. Campers have also reported moose sightings in the area, which adds an element of wildlife watching to the stay. Soldier Hollow Campground — Wasatch Mountain State Park and Chalet Campground — Wasatch Mountain State Park are other options within the park if the access road is a concern. As Denice P. puts it: "Lots of aspen trees, nice bathrooms some with soap, some vaulted. Lots of room." Campers who can handle the drive in will find a site worth the effort.
