Sitting along the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands region, Cedar Point State Park Campground draws a mix of tent campers, RV rigs up to 50 feet, and boaters who arrive by water. The park runs from early May through mid-October, with nightly rates between $24 and $37. Site variety is a defining feature here: wooded interior sites offer more shade and seclusion, while waterfront spots face the river directly with open sightlines and little overhead cover.
Water access shapes the experience for most visitors. Reviewers consistently note the appeal of sites near the river, and the campground has docks, a maintained swim beach, and fishing access. A staffed recreation hall runs organized activities, and Birch Haven Campground is one of several alternatives east of here for campers wanting a different setup. Site selection matters: at least one reviewer flagged that spots near the boat launch see regular foot traffic from other campers. Reservations are available and worth booking early for waterfront spots.
Jonathan G. sums up the tradeoff clearly: "Waterfront sites don't have much shade but you get a great view." Bathrooms have drawn mixed comments across multiple reviews, with cleanliness noted as inconsistent. Electric, water, and sewer hookups are available for RVs. The access road has been flagged as rough, so tow vehicles and larger rigs should factor that in before arrival. Campers looking at camping near Cedar Point State Park will find additional options in the broader Thousand Islands corridor.
