Colter Bay Campground, near Glendo State Park, is a cozy spot that offers a peaceful escape for campers looking to unwind. With just 12 sites, it’s a small campground where you won’t feel like you’re on top of your neighbors, making it a great choice for those who appreciate a bit of space.

Colter Bay is a small campground, which is situated in a stand of Cottonwood trees just off of Lakeshore Drive. With only seven individual campsites, it is an ideal spot for you and your family to have some space to yourselves. The campground is largely undeveloped, with only a dirt road for access; six of the campsites do not have any established camping pads. Site 5 has an ADA compliant concrete RV pad. Colter Bay also has decently close access to the water on a seasonal basis. Normally, from May through early-mid July, the bay has water in it, and the campsites have very close foot-traffic access to the water. The water access, and sheltered nature of the cove make Colter Bay a very popular campground during high water. During the rest of the year, the bay drains out, and this campground becomes one of the farthest from the water. All campsites in Colter Bay are potentially impacted during high water flooding.

The Best Camping Near Glendo, Wyoming

Have stayed at the RV Park the last few years it is wonderful.  Some people do get confused as the Colter Bay RV Park has full hookups and is closer to the store and lake.  Colter Bay Campground is in a separate area does not have hookups I don’t believe.  I know it does not have electrical or sewer not sure about water. Make sure to book the appropriate area RV park for full hook-ups or RV Campground if you don’t need full hook-ups

We stayed at Colter Bay Campground in the tent only section site 134 F. We had a campervan and a tent and had plenty of space. As with many national parks, neighbors are a little close but not terrible. We liked our site location and would come back again. We were across from the bathrooms and the water and had a huge bear box with a picnic table and fire grate. We had some cell service, but not great as expected. Firewood is sold nearby in the general store. Tent only sites were great because there weren’t any generators. All facilities clean and nicely maintained. Definitely would come back.

Clean, Convenient, Would Return

This is by far one of my most favorite places. We camped just a little trail away to Jackson Lake. We loved hanging at the lake and hiking the trails. We’ll be back! 

Most gorgeous like ever 

Really enjoyed the campground. We were able to sit by a fire at night and feel secluded. There were great amenities and a perfect location for exploring the Grand Tetons. 




Awesome location

Really convenient campsite in the Grand Tetons. Very close to several attractions. Had shower and laundry facilities along with other amenities close by in the village. Restrooms were close and were satisfactory in cleanliness. Did have a dump station for flushing away soapy camp cooking water. I did see a bear drinking water from a puddle as soon as I pulled up, so definitely do your part to keep food and other items locked up and safe.

WiFi at the market area then short bike ride to campground with neighbors a little close but everyone was polite.

We enjoyed our multi-night stay at Colter Bay. They have a general store, market, showers and gas station which were all helpful. Our campsite was a short walk to Jackson Lake each morning and evening. We visited during a busy time when the campground was near-full, but did not feel too crowded.

Colter Bay campground is a very small campground with 12 sites. These sites are primitive and have 1 vault bathroom. Sites are not on top of each other so this area is peaceful

Small campground at Glendo State Park

This feels much less maintained. No pavilion no water. Has a bathroom 2-3 Verizon bars. But the road is in bad shape. Big potholes. A car could still do it but be careful. The water is long gone dry. The good news is no reservation required and their are only a handful of sites so much quiter less desired spot.
