KOA Close to Lake Koshkonong

With 2 kids to mind, I found the Milton-Madison SE KOA to be one of the most family-friendly campgrounds we’ve visited, with something for everyone to enjoy. With over 200 sites, the campground is clearly geared toward RVs and fifth wheels, but it also offers a few cabins and tent sites, giving families different ways to stay. The kids were thrilled with the heated pool that even has a waterfall, the playgrounds, gaga ball, arcade, and weekend rides like the barrel train and hayrack.  In short, there was always something to keep them entertained while I could actually relax. I appreciated the practical touches like clean restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, a well-stocked market and a clubhouse with plenty of space to gather. My husband loved that Lake Koshkonong was right nearby for fishing and paddling, and we all enjoyed exploring Milton’s small-town restaurants with Mary’s Café for biscuits and gravy that was a huge hit and Frederick’s Supper Club, both of which made for a special night out. The Riggio family, who run the campground, were some of the kindest hosts we’ve met, which made the whole experience feel extra welcoming. While I do think the tent sites and cabins are a bit pricey for what you get, the number of activities, amenities, and nearby conveniences made it worth it for the memories we created together. For families looking for a lively, activity-packed camping trip, this KOA is a great choice.

Solid KOA Experience

The Milton-Madison KOA is one of the larger campgrounds in the KOA network, offering over 200 sites with a mix of full hookups and water/electric-only hookups, along with a selection of pull-through and back-in options, gravel or concrete pads, and some upgraded patio sites. While primarily catering to RVs and fifth wheels, the campground also has about a dozen tent sites and half a dozen cabins. Amenities are extensive, ranging from an in-ground heated pool with a waterfall and two-story patio deck, hot tub, clubhouse, market store, snack shack, arcade, meeting and TV rooms, multiple restroom and shower facilities, laundromat and Wi-Fi, to a wide variety of recreation such as basketball, volleyball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, baseball, disc golf, playgrounds, gaga ball, hayrack rides, barrel rides, train rides, and nature trails. Guests will also find a Kamp K9 dog area, golf cart and bike rentals, propane refill station, firewood, and plenty of seating throughout the grounds. Just minutes away, Lake Koshkonong offers excellent kayaking, canoeing and fishing. For dining, nearby Milton serves up hearty Midwestern fare, from Mary’s Café’s biscuits and gravy to Paul Revere’s homemade pies and the upscale Frederick’s Supper Club, known for its prime rib bites and Diablo pasta. Insider tips include enjoying the warm hospitality of the Riggio family hosts, taking a short drive to Madison for big-city attractions, noting that tent sites - though equipped with water and electric - feel basic and pricey, and being aware that cabin rentals also run higher than average. Thankfully, Milton’s local shops, grocery stores, and hardware options make resupplying convenient, rounding out a destination that’s both activity-packed and well-situated for Wisconsin adventures.  Overall, my family and I really enjoyed this place and would definitely come back!

Overnight Peace of mind!

Wife and I decided to camp along the way as we traveled 2,400. Headed south we called here and the person we talked to was so sweet and knowledgeable. She helped pick a site for us because we decide the camping was going to be tent camping. Rolled in after hours and quickly set camp up. Woke up to a beautiful site and extremely nice people.

cant wait to go back

I ended up here because I was going to a music festival in the area, and they turned me away because I have a service animal. I wasn't going to do all that work for nothing and just go home, so I decided to look up my nearest campground and it was KOA in Milton. they made me feel welcome. they understood my dilemma. it was a wonderful weekend. lots of amenities and I just absolutely can't wait to go back next year. I'm going to try to make it a couple times. so much fun, just me and my dog. And one last the thing, my fellow campers were more than hospitable and very nice and I appreciate that very much.

Great place full of trees and well kept

This place was the best on our trip so far. We were here for a couple nights. The pool was great (from 3-4 it’s adult swim, so the kids had to get out). The sites were very clean and it’s only about 40 minutes from Milwaukee. They have a ton of things to do for the family like a baseball backstop, sand volleyball, horse shoes, a playground etc.

Not a bad Koa

Very clean and friendly staff, the pool is meh as the hot tub was cold but the grounds were real nice. Big fire pits, they pick up your garbage. Lots of stuff for kids to do

Great ROI

Way more than a KOA Holiday. Great pool, pristine restrooms, trees over sites, roomy sites and piles of things to keep busy.

Hit the jackpot on our first extended RV trip!

Milton KOA is a gem! Campsites are spread out, spotless and most are well shaded. Driving around, I really don't think there's a bad spot here.

The staff is fantastic, friendly, and accommodating- as are the seasonal campers.

We'll be back again...and again... and again!

Great campground. Fun activities for the kids.

Great place to bring our three boys. There are 2 playgrounds, a nice pool, games and activities for the kids over weekends, and the rv sites are well spaced. We had a back in spot right up to a field. Very pretty and peaceful. We were able to rent a golf cart which the kids got a kick out of. There is a nice clubhouse where you can purchase snacks and ice cream. Will definitely stay here again.

Very pretty and organized RV park

This KOA is large very green and pretty well organized and friendly staff. We appreciated staying here but we called late and we’re only able to spend one night. The Wi-Fi was terrible! That was the downside; either it was completely out of function or was too weak. No cable.

Nice camp ground but $$

It’s a nice campground. They have everything from just electrical hook up to full hookup to drive through spots. The pool and bath house is very nice. You can rent a golf cart too. It is a bit in the expensive side for the area but it is nice and we go with some friends 1 or 2 times a year. The Halloween weekend are fun.

RV/Mobile Home Campground with lots to do

I did not stay at this campground, but drove through it to see the place. I was looking for tent campsites and if there are any, they were under the tires of an RV. There are lots of things to do here, but tent camping is not one of them. I have nothing bad or good to say about the place, just letting tent campers know that this might not be the place for them.

Great weekend trip

This was our first time staying at the Milton KOA. I have had my eye on this location the last couple of years since it is under 2 hours from our house and appeared to have good amenities. The sites were of decent size, some smaller than others and some very generous sites. I would recommend viewing their map and comparing to google maps. They do allow you to pick your site if your willing to pay $10 extra. Bathrooms are fantastic and recently upgraded. Very nice playground, and pool area with hot tub. The pool area is well maintained with a waterfall feature. We were here during the spring and the grass was very well maintained and cut with large recreational fields to play sports/games. We were here during Covid-19 and many of the amenities were shut down, but during a normal stay they have hay rides, laser tag, pools, Gaga ball, and daily activities which were mostly shut down. This location is now going to be a place we visit annually as the kids enjoyed it and so did we. I’m not 100% sure, but it looks like all the sites are full hook up. We had a back in site which was easy to navigate into and was mostly level. A lot of the roads were paved and some were gravel but very well maintained.

Great stay

Just became KOA met local campers that love this park! Good sites, trash pickup at side! They even have a snack bar and deliver to your campsite! No enclosed dog park but plenty of area to walk your dog!

Very nice staff

We stayed 1 night on our way home from a long road trip. That is what it is meant for, and they do it right. The staff was terrific and the campground is clean. The pool is dated and really needs an upgrade, but the water was wet and relaxing. The pull through space was level and allowed staying hooked up to truck. Full hook ups was nice for the last stop before parking til next trip.
