Great overnight or weekend spot

We stayed here for a weekend as a parking spot to explore WV. Turned out to be a great location. No frills with pull thru 30/50 amp spots. Emailed to reserve spot in the evening and heard back right away. They have an honesty box to leave payment. Great views and not a lot of road noise. If you…

Pit Stop

We thought we would try a different place for our mid-point stop to Myrtle Beach. It's a Good Sam park, clean bathrooms, small pool, no fire rings, close access to freeway. Alot of highway noise can be heard from the campground, even with the hilly grazing pasture for cows between the highway and…

Small, simple, right by the river

I stayed 3 nights, and first two were fantastic. On the 3rd night a vehicle parked in the boat ramp lot and blasted music started at 2am, lots of yelling. I heard from several people that the walk-in spots can get pretty rowdy with locals. The pull-in spots were fine. Picnic table, fire ring,…

Off the beaten path but worth it

There are only six drive up primitive sites, and if you can nab one on a weekend consider yourself fortunate. Also available are walk up sites, and in a pinch you can park your camper van in the boat launch parking lot overnight (which we did without problem until a site opened up) Spacious and…

Grand View Visitor’s Center and Trailhead

This site does not have camping access but is well worth a day trip. Highest point in our newest national park with many spectacular trails for taking in the ‘grand view’ of the New River Gorge.

Limited Space but Nice

Beautiful but small campground. There are probably only 10 spaces, one is handicap only. Spaces are relatively close together and the drive down the valley to it is relatively steep - our sprinter van still made it. If the camping areas are full you could stay in the adjacent parking lot beside the…

quiet in the off-season; looks fun

Lot's to do here when it's up and running -- sort of a bring-the-whole-family place. Campground is quiet and clean; hot showers blissful. Short drive to Sandstone Falls, which are stunning.

quiet spot on the river

Tent spots have the best access to and views of the river, which is glorious. Car spots lack the view, but they're quiet and pleasant; just a short jaunt to the rocks. Trains passing in the night are oddly soothing.

Nice park

We stayed 3 nights at Fort Chiswell. Although first impressions weren’t that great, it grew on me. This is a lovely park right off the main highway. You don’t hear any noise because a large hill blocks every thing off. RV sites aren’t really spacious, but are shaded with a picnic bench. No fire…

Family run, chosen family friendly

This place is run by the family that lives there and has been my go to spot for stays at the New. Great launching pad for river activities and climbing. The bathrooms are clean and spacious to accommodate the number of campers. It can be a little old school in that you have to text to get in touch…

Nice place for a few nights

Stayed here for 3 nights while slowly making our way to South Carolina. Very pretty area nestled in the mountains. It’s just off the interstate, but heard very little traffic due to large hill. Lots of cows and sheep grazing in the fields nearby. Most of the people who came were overnight only, so…

Community oriented RV friendly park

We stayed here for 2 nights (site #19). It’s not a secluded experience so if privacy is what you’re looking for this isn’t the place for you.

The extremely accessible pull-throughs are strategically placed in a semi-circle/horse shoe. The entire park is very clean, sites are level and ample…

Great Campground

This was a phenomenal campground. It is family run and the owner made us feel very welcome. They had firewood for sale as well as fresh eggs from their free roam chickens. There were also showers and flush toilets. The site we had was awesome as it had a wooden platform for our tent and plenty of…

Great little campground just a few minutes from I64

This is a nice little campground.  Clean and well kept.

Most of the sites are wooded and would be a bit difficult for a rig our size but they are very nice.  The bathhouse is very clean with great water pressure and hot water.  There is also a small laundry room.

Sites have water and…
