Great spot that checks all my boxes

In nature, not to close together spots, affordable (20/night). Im in a 25ft class c, always looking for a more nature forward spot, trees out my door. There’s phone service and Wi-Fi in some spots. A few will fit a larger rig, many will fit my size. A few are flat already and some will need leveling. Tons of sites, fewer ‘ideal’ ones but there will be something.
Trails right off the campground to walk around the park, not huge but nice. Close off the highway but no road noise. Water available but not at your site(mostly, if you have an extension you you make some work) Electric at most sites. Close to abingdon and Virginia creeper trail. Also close to a Target, makes a convenient stop.

Excellent local getaway!

As the title says, anyone local knows about this park, however, few take advantage of the camping aspect. Few neighbors, excellent staff, and a nice area to hang out with friends, family, or even yourself! As well as trails and parks nearby, you're close enough to a Target and Walmart shopping center, in case you need something you forgot.

Shady

Great park to hike and although most of the RV spots are not very level there are a few good ones. 30amp, no sewer hookups, dump station, shared water spigots. Very shady and during the week very quiet. Best suited for smaller RVs but there are a couple of spots for larger ones.

Hidden Gem in the City

From the road you wouldn’t guess there’s a giant park beyond the entrance. The rangers at the entrance were super friendly, but they patrol a lot, so often no one is actually at the gate house. When we first arrived we wandered over to the picnic spots along a beautiful stream. A very large blue heron was in the water at let us take many photos. Later he strutted downstream right by our picnic spot.

After lunch I walked the entire campground and chose our spot. It was October and there were maybe 8-10 spots taken in the entire park. Many spots have a good amount of space between them. Pretty much all are shady. Some were on pretty uneven ground and quite a few had big drop offs on the sides or back. Overall, clean, quiet, park surrounded by lots of trees.

  • The stream at the picnic area (outside campground) is quite picturesque.

Nice campground

Nice campground. Most lots have electricity, water hookup is at the road and usually shared with several other campers. Bath house is very small. Lots of trees and shade. Trail leads to creek and park area. Good price.
