This park is but 5 minutes away from the main strip, right near The Island, but we could not hear the traffic at all! Beautiful sites, however, they were right on top of each other. Our sewer hook up was right in front of our neighbors patio area, and most sites are like this. Clean pool, a playground for the kids, and the park was pleasant to walk the dog around! Also, it's a Good Sam park!
Most camp sites are right on the lake, and there were even some spots that had docks. All hook ups included, and some tent camping as well! There were several shelters that can rented as well to have parties and cook out. Only complaint, the sites are all back in and are on small roads so they're right fits, even with travel trailers.
This campground was breathtaking, with the activity area for kids, pool, fishing pond, and small walking trails. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the site we were at (11) was really close to another site and it felt like we were right on top of each other, though other sites looked like this wasn't a problem.
If you love the Banner Elk, Grandfather mountain area, then I recommend this campground! You are surrounded by beautiful views of the mountains. Not far from Boone, and is basically next door to Grandfather Winery. Only thing I didn't like was the sites we stayed in near the office/general store were close to one another, but other sites for tents and campers didn't seem to have this problem. Will be staying at again!
As the title says, anyone local knows about this park, however, few take advantage of the camping aspect. Few neighbors, excellent staff, and a nice area to hang out with friends, family, or even yourself! As well as trails and parks nearby, you're close enough to a Target and Walmart shopping center, in case you need something you forgot.
