Free and first-come, this dispersed site in Green Mountain National Forest is little more than a cleared area with a fire pit, accessible only to vehicles with at least 8 inches of ground clearance. Cell service is available. Campers who prefer a more developed setup can browse places to camp near Green Mountain National Forest for alternatives. Hammock campers should bring a machete in summer, when undergrowth in the surrounding forest can be dense.
Description
Backcountry camping is allowed in most locations on the forest unless there is a specific closure order in place for a particular area.
The following camping practices are recommended:
Locate campsites at least 200’ from trails or waterbodies including ponds, rivers, and streams When able, utilize sites already managed for overnight use including designated tent platforms and established shelters Do not camp in alpine or sub-alpine areas where trees are 8’ or less. Help protect these fragile ecosystems!
