Everything seemed great, except no shade
Unfortunately, this campground got hit hard with beetle kill, resulting in little to no trees (and the ones that are there really are 'little' lol) so it seems pretty deserty.
However, if your plans are to just sleep there and not hang out all day, then I would highly recommend. The camp host Judy was WONDERFUL, and I wish we could've taken her with us to where we ended up staying. She was so helpful, KIND, and we found out she shares the same birthday with our almost 2 year old son.
Judy also claims to have the cleanest bathrooms of any campground, and she isn't lying. Those vault toilets look brand new!
Hidden Gem
Near tons of hiking/bike trails. Creek runs several yards away from camp. Kid pump track waking distance from from campground. Super clean pit toilets. Camp spots have large separation so not ontop of each other.
Camp Host Judy is SUPER AWESOME. She is very knowledgeable of the area and very helpful in making our stay top notch!
Amenities: large picnic table, Bear box, metal fire pit with grate top, on-site trash bins, central water, pit toilets.
Clean, quiet, well situated
Went here last fall with the family after we struck out at some nearby BLM spots. We were able to get in no problem on labor day weekend and the host was absolutely fantastic. Super friendly and happy to help - made our experience really easy.
As far as the actual site, it's a bit sparse and certainly nothing fancy but the location is fantastic and as the title it's extremely well maintained. There's some great hikes with easy access from the campground including a river trail and even some mountain biking trails down the road. Plenty of space between spots, clean restroom which is well maintained, firepit with a great, and bear box.
Overall, if you're looking for a great spot near Fraser or Winter Park this is a great go to. Affordable, clean, and just a fantastic campground.
