Broome Hut (10th Mountain Division Hut Association)

A steep intermediate-level hike leads to this 16-person bunkhouse operated by the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association. The trail access requires more effort than its "easy" designation suggests, but rewards hikers with year-round availability for both summer hiking and winter skiing activities.

The facility functions more as a bunkhouse than a traditional backcountry hut, accommodating larger groups with sleeping space for up to 16 people. A pellet stove provides interior heating during colder months. Winter Park serves as the closest access point to Denver among all 10th Mountain Division huts, making it relatively convenient for Front Range visitors seeking campgrounds around Winter Park. The $50-$100 nightly rate reflects the hut's substantial capacity and amenities compared to standard camping options.

Really fun location at 12,000 ft.

It's a steep hike up that's labeled as easy but it's definitely intermediate. The Broome Hut is open year-round and is great for summer hiking and for winter skiing. This hut can sleep up to 16 people, it's less of a hut and more of a bunkhouse. Great pellet stove inside to keep warm.

This hut ranks lower on my list in comparison to the other 10th Mountain Division huts but still is a great experience if you're in the area. This is the closest hut to Denver.
