With 49 full hookup sites packed closely together, Park At The River operates as an RV park on the south side of Wallowa Lake near Joseph. Campers can reserve standard sites with electric, water, and sewer connections, or choose dry camping spots positioned directly along the river that feeds the lake. The access road can be rough, so drivers should plan accordingly.
The hookup sites accommodate larger RVs but offer limited spacing between neighbors. River-side dry camping provides more dispersed positioning and direct water access, though these spots draw foot traffic from other campers seeking the waterfront. Jerrell W. notes "Bathrooms are clean and the staff were so amazing." Several amenities sit within walking distance, including stores, restaurants, and miniature golf.
The location puts campers across from the Wallowa Lake Tramway and near hiking trails leading into the surrounding mountains. The river provides a focal point for many visitors, though the lack of designated access points means campers may find others crossing through their sites to reach the water. Wallowa Lake State Park Campground sits less than half a mile northwest for those seeking a more traditional campground experience.
Rates range from $34-65 per night depending on site type and season. Reservations help secure preferred spots, especially the river-front dry camping areas during peak summer months.
Description
In the heart of Wallowa Lake Village, within walking distance to the famous Mt Howard tramway, mini golf, go-karts, trails, swim beach & marina, Park At The River provides a great base camp from which to explore all Wallowa Lake has to offer! Campers may choose between full-hookup sites in the main area and boondocking sites right beside the river. We are an RV only campground but do allow pop-out tent trailers, truck-top tent and van/truck campers. Our boondocking sites are now "no generators allowed", specifically geared towards those who use solar and prefer the peace and quiet of the river. We have men's and women's restrooms with showers, coin laundry, and 3 cabins for non-campers as well. While we do not allow wood fires, we do allow propane fire bowls and rent them to campers who do not own one for $10/night as well.
New for 2025: we no longer allow dogs between from Memorial weekend through Labor Day weekend, in an effort to take pressure off our sensitive habitat and wildlife. Our area is known for its large population of friendly (perhaps too friendly) mule deer as well as red fox, bears, badgers, numerous waterfowl and spawning kokanee in fall. You will see wildlife, 100% guaranteed, in your visit to Wallowa Lake.
As we are a small, family owned and operated park, each guest's camping experience is important to us! We will always do our best to provide a pristine environment and friendly, personable service.
