Twin Lakes Resort

Deschutes National Forest manages Twin Lakes Resort, a small campground set along the shores of South Twin Lake in the Oregon Cascades, open from April through mid-October. The campground runs on a reservation system, so walk-ins are unlikely to find an open site without booking ahead. Sites accommodate RVs up to 50 feet and include hookups, though reviewers note the sites can be quite dusty, with dirt getting into gear during dry summer stretches.

Water access is the main draw here. South Twin Lake prohibits motorized boats, making it a consistent destination for kayakers and paddleboarders, and a roughly one-mile trail circles the lake for those who prefer to stay on foot. A beach along the Deschutes channel sits nearby, and the lake itself works well for swimming. Fishing draws visitors as well. The adjacent Twin Lakes Resort has a small store and a restaurant with patio seating directly on the lake, all within walking distance of the campsites.

"Small campground, pretty quiet," notes Cerise D., though she also flagged that bathrooms were not well-maintained during her visit. Cell service is available on-site, campfires are permitted, and firewood can be purchased at the camp store.
