Situated along the shoreline of Crane Prairie Reservoir in Deschutes National Forest, Browns Mountain Boating Site is a free, drive-in dispersed camping area managed by the US Forest Service. It sits roughly half a mile southeast of Crane Prairie, putting boaters close to the water. No fee. Bring all supplies from town, as no amenities are provided on site.
Description
This boating site is located on the south side of Crane Prairie Reservoir near the dam. The primitive ramp and small parking lot are not paved. There is a toilet on site.

Directions
From Bend, OR: Travel 26 miles south on Highway 97 to Wickiup Junction and turn right onto Country Road 43 (Burgess Road) for 11 miles. Turn left onto Forest Road 42 for 6 miles and then turn right onto Forest Road 4285 for 1.5 miles and the boat ramp will be on your right.
