Salt Creek Hideout

Accessible via gravel road, Salt Creek Hideout provides dispersed camping with drive-in and walk-in options near Oakridge, Oregon. The site features three wooden benches and a designated fire ring, with Salt Creek flowing within walking distance of the camping area. Dead branches scattered throughout the surrounding forest supply readily available firewood for campfires.

Campers report the gravel access road handles standard vehicles, though winter conditions can create challenging driving situations with heavy snow. Summer visitors should prepare for significant mosquito activity, which typically subsides once a campfire is established. The site allows pets and alcohol, making it suitable for camping destinations outside Oakridge where dispersed camping regulations permit these amenities.

Stealth winter camping

A lil sketchy of a drive in the winter snow but the site was great. The snow was so heavy it broke my canopy in the morning.

Very accessible

Campsite with 3 wooden benches plus a campfire, also a creek with a short walking distance from the camp. The drive to the spot is on a gravel road wasn’t a problem for our 2009 Volkswagen van, beware of heavy mosquitos in the summer, once we made a fire they went away, lots of dead branches in the area for easy firewood.
