Description
High-desert BLM land below Glass Buttes in central Oregon, set on a flat bench that looks out over the broad valley floor at around 5,700 feet. The area is scattered with obsidian — a remnant of the volcanic geology that defines this stretch of the Oregon Outback. Access is via a dirt road that handles well when dry, though the water-diversion berms running across it can catch low-clearance vehicles off guard, and the road is narrow enough that passing oncoming traffic in a large rig takes some maneuvering.
