 Boating, fishing, water skiing, hiking, and swimming are some of the activities enjoyed by visitors. Prevailing winds and secluded coves create an ideal environment for sailing. Scuba divers enjoy the lake's clear waters and high visibility. Fishing is good for black bass, white bass, striped bass, crappie and catfish. The trout stream below the dam is one of only two year-round trout fisheries in Oklahoma, and is regularly stocked with rainbow trout. Hunting is also permitted in parts of the lake area, in accordance with federal and state laws.

 Tenkiller Ferry Lake is often referred to as \"Oklahoma's clear water paradise.\" The 12,500 acre lake is sourced by the Illinois River and the Baron Fork, which are both designated as Oklahoma Scenic Rivers. It is nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in the northeastern part of the state. This area, known as Green Country, is surrounded by dense oak-hickory forests, tall bluffs, and rolling hills. The lake has 130 miles of shoreline with plenty of wildlife such as deer and turkey. It serves as one of the flyways of migratory birds, including bald eagles, common loons, and white pelicans.

The Best Camping Near Vian, Oklahoma

This is a nice campground. I stayed there for 1 week. The campground is run by the Corps Of Engineers. It is well maintained and has a gate that is locked at night. There is RV camping and tent camping. Across from the pavilion in the tent area are trails through the woods that lead to the Cliff's and rock ledges. The water is deep, clear and cool. We like to dive from the Cliff's and swim from the rock ledges. There is a dock, boat ramp, swimming area and 2 bathrooms with showers. The deer roam around in the evening. I really like this campground it is not as busy as some of the other campgrounds on Tenkiller lake.

Cliff and ledges

 Located in the foothills of the Ozarks in eastern Oklahoma on crystal clear Tenkiller Lake, a COE project from the mid 1950’s on the Illinois River.  We stayed on site 18 which is gravel W/E (50A).  There are about 110 wooded sites here with either gravel, paved or concrete sites.  Most sites are W/E 30A (only five 50A which are all first come first serve).  Some are FHU 30A.  There are a total of 44 first come first serve sites.  There is a swim area and two boat ramps.  Also there is a separate Snake Creek Cove Marina.  Practically zero Verizon reception which meant no internet or phone.


Nice and Away from it all!

Campground has no shade, some sites close together, some sites along the water (the rest aren’t that far). Boating, fishing, and hiking, with towns nearby. Hikes are surprisingly lovely through the woods and along cliffs. Some go cliff jumping but we just swam. Relatively peaceful though popular, not sure if you’ll need reservations. Not too far from Tenkiller State Park and a number of other parks plus a lot of Native American history.

We really enjoyed this campground. Lots of room to roam, Plenty of access to the water for boats (multiple ramps) or wading/swimming. Plenty of sites to choose from some shaded, some by the water.  A few full hookups but not many. Most spots are just electric and water. Clean restrooms/showers. One newer area of the campground has new private shower rooms. We have been back a couple of times with all the kids and grandkids. Overall a nice corp of engineers park.

Great place to stay.

We stayed at site 76. Nice quiet park with easy access and reasonable facilities. Bathrooms are a bit rough, but functional. Site included 30a receptacle, 20a receptacle, water and sewer. Water is a bit far from pedestal, bring more than 25' of hose.

Great Campground

We love the location, boat ramp, park toilets and showers.  However, the fire ants are a severe problem.  The ants prevent us from playing in our campground area and the kids have to play in the street or gravel.  If you stand in one place too long, you get bit - regardless of trying to avoid them.  Just seems like severe infestation - would be nice if the park would do something to mitigate.  It’s hard to invite friends and family out to the lake to visit at the campsite or go out on the boat - when even loading the boat becomes an issue with getting stung by the ants.
