Backcountry Campsite

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Hikers on the North Country Trail along Lake Ashtabula have walk-in access to this free, primitive campsite managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers at John Paul Hammerschmidt Lake. It sits close to the water and includes a picnic table, campfire ring, and a primitive toilet stocked with toilet paper. Cell service is available. The site works best for NCT through-hikers or day-trippers looking for a no-cost overnight stop, and West Astubula Campground provides a developed alternative nearby.

Nice site

My kids and I enjoyed this site on our hike along the NCT on Lake Ashtabula. The primitive toilet even had a mailbox with toilet paper!
