Campsite at Wallace Meadows Farm / RV site at Wallace Meadows Farm

    Lovely place to camp!

We recently stayed overnight at Wallace Meadows and it was one of the most lovely places we've ever been to! Rich was very friendly and welcoming and the hookup & amenities they offered for a fee were excellent. The bath house was spotless and we each enjoyed a nice hot shower! The property is surrounded by trees and it was very tranquil. There's even a guesthouse which could possibly accommodate fellow travelers who may not have an RV. There's also a laundry room but we didn't use it. They have a background in hospitality and it really shows. Before we left, we purchased some fresh eggs from their farm, beautifully packaged and delicious! We will return to North Carolina. There's so much to see here and we'll definitely return to Wallace Meadows Farm.

Campsite at Wallace Meadows Farm / RV site at Wallace Meadows Farm

    Small but very relaxing

Extremely nice campground with 4 RV sites(50 Amp) and water service. Dump station is easy access upon arrival or departure. Easy entrance and exit from main highway to site area. Trees are well maintained to prevent brushing RV upon entrance and exit. Accommodates easy access to 2 pull through and 2 back in camp sites. Each site has 12x12 concrete pads to restrict tracking sand and/or dirt into RV unit. Daily trash service at sites. Rest rooms well kept, clean with private single shower. Washer and dryer service located at bath house and close to site area for a reasonable price. Wi-Fi service available and ready. Wonderful remote quite area for total relaxation. Tent area behind RV sites but separated from RV location. Area lit at night but not to the extreme to bother camping. Kayaks available to enjoy the small river behind RV& Tent area. Easy access via wooden dock for boarding or unloading kayaks. Owner is extremely accommodating and offers fresh eggs and black angus beef at responsible rates.

    Oyster Point Campground

    Peaceful and remote

Oyster Point Campground is no frills. But vault toilets were well maintained and cleaned.

Campsites are large and spread out. Logs were at each campsite when we arrived,  great for firewood or for seating around the campfire.

Campground sits along a body of water, but no water access from any sites. At the entrance to campground there are hiking trails.

Area is remote. Closest shopping was more than 10 miles away.

    Host was friendly and personable.

Highly recommend and will return again ourselves.

    Oyster Point Campground

    Simple spot near the water

Not a whole lot going on at this site. The trail was washed out without warning. There are toilets available without running water. Bugs were bad but that’s to be expected. Not a bad place, not great either.

    Camp Ocean Forest

Costly but good ocean front views.

Right next to the pier, walking distance to the water, and amazing views. Many permanent campers. The sites are fairly small and everything is very cramped. The bathhouses are not in great condition. You are paying for the location as it is close to everything. Amazing location!

    Water Views and Spacious Sites

Oyster Point: Great sites. Sites w water view are best.
    (Scale 1- bad, 5-Very good

(70 yr olds in 17’ trailer with a desire for a campsite that has at least some visual privacy offered - after the trailer is in the spot.)

Overall Rating: 4 Price 2023: $ 5 w interagency pass Usage during visit: Light Site Privacy: Underbrush has been trimmed it looks like. So, there is not as much privacy between sites. Site Spacing: Very wide sites .
Site surface: Gravel Reservations: Yes Campground Noise: Quiet during our stay.
Road Noise: Secluded. No public roads nearby. Through Traffic in campground: No Electric Hookup: No Sewer Hookup: No Dump Station: No Potable Water Available: Yes. One or two spigots. Generators:Allowed Bathroom: Pit toilet is clean and well stocked. Showers: No Pull Throughs: Site 13 is a pull through Cell Service (AT&T): 2 - 4 bars Setting: Pine forest with a more of Newport River Weather: 72 fall day high. Bugs: No mosquitoes. Must be gone for the year Solar: Maybe too forested in some spots. In site # 5 at 9:00 AM we had some solar charge happening Host: Tonia is a delightful host Rig size: Our site would fit a large rig. Sites: I took pictures of the sites on the shore side of the campground. They are the best, but all sites here I would be happy with. Sites #9 and #11 have pathways to a very small private beach. Site 1 is close to a pit toilet. Maybe a smell issue now and then.

    Oyster Point Campground

    Best out of season

We tent camped at this small (16 sites) campground in late May. The location is pretty and on the water. Not a swimming place, but there is a launch for canoes and kayaks. The location is a perfect staring point for hiking in Croatan National Forest. Fierce biting bugs and ticks during certain seasons, so bug spray is a must! Campsites are large and clean with some shade and old (need repair) picnic tables and fire pits. Some sites have electric hook ups. Toilet facilities are there but I do not recommend. Sites feel relatively private, but you do sometimes hear your neighbors. Most sites had RV campers when we stayed there. Also small youth groups frequent this location. Good for tent camping and not far to Carteret County beaches.

Frequently Asked Questions

What glamping options are available at Emerald Isle, NC?

Emerald Isle offers several glamping options for those seeking an elevated camping experience. Wallace Meadows Farm provides beautiful RV sites with hookups in a picturesque farm setting. For those seeking waterfront glamping, Camp Ocean Forest offers sites with amazing ocean views and walking distance to the pier. Beyond traditional campgrounds, the Emerald Isle area has luxury canvas tents, cabins, and yurts available at various locations. These glamping accommodations typically include comfortable beds, furnished interiors, and outdoor living spaces, providing the perfect blend of nature and comfort.

How much does glamping cost at Emerald Isle compared to traditional camping?

Glamping at Emerald Isle typically costs significantly more than traditional camping. At Goose Creek Campground, monthly RV stays can run around $1800 for premium sites with amenities. By comparison, traditional camping at Oyster Point Campground costs as little as $10 per night, or just $5 with an Interagency Pass. Glamping accommodations with furnished interiors, comfortable beds, and deluxe amenities generally range from $100-250 per night depending on the season and level of luxury. This premium reflects the added comforts, facilities, and often superior locations that glamping sites offer compared to basic tent camping.

What is the best time of year for glamping at Emerald Isle?

Late spring (May) through early fall (October) offers the best conditions for glamping at Emerald Isle. According to experiences at Oyster Point Campground, mid-October provides excellent weather with minimal insects, while late May through summer offers warm temperatures ideal for water activities. However, be aware that summer brings more insects, particularly biting bugs and ticks in certain seasons. White Oak Shores Camping & RV Resort and other coastal glamping sites experience peak crowds during summer months (June-August), so for a balance of good weather and fewer people, consider booking in May, September or early October. Winter glamping is possible but less ideal due to cooler temperatures and reduced seasonal activities.

What amenities are included with glamping sites at Emerald Isle?

Glamping sites at Emerald Isle typically include premium amenities that elevate the camping experience. Hawkins Creek Campground offers stocked catch-and-release fishing ponds, fire pits, level lots with shade, and clean bath facilities. Many glamping sites in the area provide full hookups (water, electric, sewer), high-speed WiFi (sometimes for an additional fee), private bathrooms or spotless communal facilities, outdoor furniture, and fully-equipped kitchenettes. Luxury glamping accommodations often include air conditioning, heating, comfortable beds with linens, outdoor living spaces with grills, and sometimes hot tubs. Some sites also offer concierge services, guided experiences, and easy access to beaches and water activities.
