Hidden Treasure

Camp staff was very helpful! Sights are close but looking at other campgrounds it’s very comparable. Showers, restrooms and laundry were all clean! Some seasonal campers and everyone was friendly! Would stay here again if we are in the area.

Love this campground

My family has stayed here 4 times! We love it. There are plenty of activities onsite for the kids to enjoy. They have a pool, arcade, fishing pond, paved roads for bike riding, etc. It is also located just a few miles from Cherokee and from many hiking trails!

Primitive sites are very clean and quiet. Staff patrol the grounds throughout the day. You can order firewood and food.

We have been camping at Happy Holiday for years. We really enjoy the views, music and tubing down the river/creek. The water stay very cool year round. Bathhouses are kept clean and maintained. Staff is very friendly. We love Cherokee and this is one of our favorite places to stay.

Not great for tent camping

Nice place all and all. If you have a camper I bet it would be great, except the spots are pretty tight compared to what I've seen. Nice clean bathrooms hot showers friendly staff. But the tent area ( Sequoia) was pretty weak. Fortunately it was the off season and we had it mostly to ourselves. But if I had come in the summer and been expected to pay a much as I did to share a 2000 square foot or so area with a dozen or so other groups. It would be a line star review. The whole tent area has one rickety picnic table. Just one and at least a dozen fire pits. A tent site without a picnic table at that price is just wrong. The location is nice but Cherokee is full of better choices for the tent camper.

Quiet and Convenient

Nice campground convenient to the casino in Cherokee. Sites are fairly level and well-spaced. We had a site right on the fishing pond which was nice. Staff were not over friendly but not rude.

Large campground with easy access to all sites. Most are pull through. We have stayed 2x over a month and several for a week.

A Campground for Everybody Who Likes to See and Do Things

While many large campgrounds have transitioned to RV parks, I was glad to see that Happy Holiday welcomes all types of campers. The variety of camping here is almost endless. This is fortunate because we sometimes camp in a teardrop camper, and sometimes we camp in one of my seventeen tents. I say that because I carry several tents sometimes for whatever type of camping is available.(I don’t carry all seventeen.) Anyway, there are spaces for large RVs and small RVs. There are spaces for popups, teardrops, and tents of all sizes. The site we chose this time was partially shaded and was close to the bath house.

As far as activities, there is a swimming pool, a playground, an activities pavilion, and a stage for bands. I know they have had a huge bluegrass event in the past, and I’m guessing they still have big events like that since the covered stage is in great condition. There are streams all around the campground, and they are stocked with trout on a regular basis. There is also an arcade and activities for the young ones.

The tent was next to one of the streams, and that was pleasant listening to during the night. The noise at the campground wasn’t as loud as I expected, but that could be because it was during the middle of the week. The site was grassy, unlike some of the others that had gravel. The only fault I could find with this campground is that some of the tent sites have no shade at all, but other than that, this is a great place to camp.

Our Favorite

This is our favorite place to camp. Always get a site by the creek. Put your chair in the water and just relax by your site. Lots of activities and everyone is always friendly and helpful.
