Best lake camping in the parkway

Classic simple state run campground. Large comfortable campsites all with picnic tables, fire rings, and gravel tent pads. Some are right in the lake but they fill up fast. We got one that we where able to park our boats right at camp. The lake is stocked with trout by the state and your can also catch bass and tons of sunfish. The lake is not swimming and no motor boats. But you can paddle up the creek and take a dip. And the absence vof motor boats make for a lovely time on the lake.

Not great for tent camping

Nice place all and all. If you have a camper I bet it would be great, except the spots are pretty tight compared to what I've seen. Nice clean bathrooms hot showers friendly staff. But the tent area ( Sequoia) was pretty weak. Fortunately it was the off season and we had it mostly to ourselves. But if I had come in the summer and been expected to pay a much as I did to share a 2000 square foot or so area with a dozen or so other groups. It would be a line star review. The whole tent area has one rickety picnic table. Just one and at least a dozen fire pits. A tent site without a picnic table at that price is just wrong. The location is nice but Cherokee is full of better choices for the tent camper.
