This 9,400-acre forested property, located in southeast Madison County, makes up the core of the Brookfield Trail System. Charles E. The Cherry Ridge camping area has potable water. Campsites are on a first-come, first-served basis. Lean-tos are also available for camping. See the map for locations. At large primitive camping is also allowed. Campsites must be at least 150 feet away from the nearest road, trail, or body of water. Come spend the night(s) under a crystal-clear sky, nestled between a babbling creek and mirror-still pond at a working farm. Your Coggins-negative horses are welcome with current certificate, as we are located along the Catskill Scenic Trail and look forward to hosting others with a passion for trail riding. Ducks, geese and chickens free-range on the property, and a sweet donkey will likely bray to greet you. Enjoy our mixed-dozen eggs for breakfast and take some with you. The water source at the farm is from the same natural spring since 1890, and we encourage our guests to fill bottles with delicious mountain water, UV-filtered to guarantee purity.

      Keen Lake Resort Campground

      Best camp ground ever

Keen lake is the most cleanest friendliest family environment campsite you will ever find. Beautiful lake great fishing. Activities all day long for the children. Great general store that has everything in it that is open from sun up to sundown. The nachos and ice cream are the best. Super friendly staff. It's big they have tent sites right along the lake the lake is huge there's so much I could say but I would run out of room. I started coming here when I was four and I am now 46 years old and it is just the best place ever. It will always have a special place in our heart. Look forward every year to coming here no matter what age my kids are they all have a blast. From tent sites to RVs to cottages to glamping you name it they have it highly recommend it. Recently went camping to somewhere a little bit closer to home and it's nothing compared to here. It's like comparing Macy's to Walmart. You will never regret coming here. So pack your family up and have a great time.

      Betty Brook Camp

      One of my favorite

Love to camp here all year long have been coming to the area for a couple of decades now. Remote. Sometimes you never see anyone. Sometimes you see some people. You camp on the stream. There is a couple of spots

      Pretty good place

I live near this campground. I'm about a mile away and I pass it every day. It is rather remote, but it is right along West kill road. There's a stream alongside it, a fire pit, and a town about 8 mi away. It's a small town, with just a gas station store. I would not recommend this for large trailers. The site is fairly small, but it's in state park, and there's tons of walking that can be done.

      Summertime fun!

This campground blew our minds. The amount of activities they had planned for all group ages was nothing short of amazing. From sun up until sun down…activities, activities, activities. The check in was quick and informative. They were really nice to us. The sites are a tad closer than you’d like, but it’s still a nice place. Our 1 dog has severe anxiety so we asked for a private spot or as private as could get. They really provided just that and she had a great experience as well. We appreciated that a lot.

      Awesome campground on Keen Lake

Keen Lake Campground, as it’s name implies, is an amazing campground situated along the shores of a lake. They have several sites with a water view. The sites are average in size. The site we had was a little tight to get into, but we had enough room to enjoy our site. The campground itself is a little hilly, but the sites were pretty level. We had full hookups.

The campground has a nice pool, a well stocked store with ice cream, toys, camping supplies, and basic groceries. Everyone in the store was extremely nice and helpful. You can also rent paddle boats and disc boats to paddle around the lake for a very reasonable cost.

      Not good

I try to not let the campers ruin a place for me, but I’d say 7 out of 10 sites near us were blasting music, yelling and screaming and just being pretty terrible humans. At one point during our stay staff did drive around and ask folks to lower the music, but as soon as they left it went right back to blaring. The music started again just after 5 am, at not just one site. We stayed on the other side of the lake, the Pioneer area, it was poorly marked and certainly did not have enough restroom facilities, as most of the sites were tents. The bathrooms they did have were pretty disgusting and not at all well maintained. The sites themselves were rather small and right on top of one another, our section was close enough to the road that we often heard trucks driving by. We wanted to love this place, it showed well online, had a good bit of amenities but was just not well kept and overrun with an overwhelming amount of inconsiderate campers. We ended up spending just one night, of our 2 night reservation and leaving first thing in the morning.

      Keen Lake Resort Campground

      Do not recommend

I would not recommend this campground. Please be aware that 148 -149 sites are located near a small pond and not an actual lake as shown on pictures. The area 148-153 sites is located right next to the Roosevelt highway and it makes it impossible to enjoy nature and silence due to the trucks and cars driving by it. It is a 10 min walk to the showers and restrooms. Camp sites are tiny, there are no dividers/trees/bushes between you and other camp sites. The reason why I am writing this review is the staff. When we came to the front desk asking if its possible to switch the sites, two women there were really rude and mean. With smirks on their faces they said that they are fully booked. However, site 152 ,for example , remained vacant the whole weekend. They also laughed at us when we mentioned how far the restrooms are- " you are camping"- they said. These women also didn't understand why we needed firewood at 9PM when we arrived and asked us to come back to get it the next day. After asking them 3 times, we got firewood. No delivery to the camp site was suggested. We ended up buying firewood closer to our "pond site" where firewood costs only 5$. There is a huge sign at keen lake campground office " do not buy firewood beyond this point". However, our "pond" was right after this sign and it was closer and cheaper to buy it there.

Also we were charged 25$ for " reserving " our site in advance. 2 women at the front desk were insisting we reserved it, however, we proved them that we didn't and 25$ were refunded. Be careful.

There is no security at the campground, anyone can drive in at any time. Beach was full during the day. Pool was overcrowded.

I would not leave this review if we didn't have to pay $ 269 for this camping experience ( min stay at "lake view" site was 3 nights, although we stayed 2 nights + they charge 10$ per tent per every night which is ridiculous) and if the staff was polite.

Nice little camping community in the Poconos

We had a great time despite cold wet weather. Our site was probably one of the worst in the place but we were able to scope out others that we would prefer for our next visit. We didn’t have a view of the lake, instead we were in someone’s back yard lol. It wasn’t a big deal. The site was well maintained and flat which were the most important. Most of the sites seem to be on the smaller size when compared to other campgrounds we’ve been too. That said we had plenty of space, it was just very close to the next site. We were on the far side of the lake which is not really within walking distance of the beach, pool and store. We knew this going in and were totally OK with it. I seemed less busy where we were as far as cars and people which is what we were looking for. We hopped in the car and drove the 2 mins to get to the beach. There was always parking. If you stay closer to those things it would be easy to walk & ride bikes to the different activities. The bathrooms were the cleanest we’ve ever experienced at a campground. *The showers are coin operated. The staff were so accommodating and everyone was super nice. There is a lot for younger kids to do and the grounds are pet friendly which was a huge plus for us. My kids really loved having a pool to swim in,in addition to the lake.

      My take always:

      • Get a site on the lake.

      • You won’t have a ton of privacy but you’ll have space for your stuff.

      • If you don’t want to drive during your stay, camp on the side w/ the beach and pool.

      • The store has a huge selection of necessities, so no need to worry about forgetting things.

      • This is a great place to bring an RV.

      • Great for families. It would be a great place to camp with extended family.

      • Pet friendly. They have a beach for swimming with your dogs

      The Lake, Though....

I stayed on a lakeside electric/water site for 5 nights in August 2020.  It was SO BEAUTIFUL.  We had SUPs and kayaks to take on the lake and our sites were right next to the boat launch.  Each day we would paddle over to the swimming area on the lake.  It was awesome.  The sites seemed a little narrow when we first pulled in, but it was plenty.  The kids had fun riding bikes on the road, which was off the main road.  The bugs were better than I would have anticipated next to the lake, although some days the flies were a bit annoying.  The kids caught multiple sunnies and even a small perch.  All in all, we had a great time and plan to go back next year.

      Free Primitive Campsite

Camped here on a Thursday night in late September. Only found one designated campsite, which was available, but there’s a lot of good space for dispersed camping right nearby. Access at the end of a long, but well maintained, dirt road. Campsite consists of a fire pit and picnic table. Some litter, not too bad. No toilets. Bugs aren’t an issue. Water access at a lovely nearby pond. Highly recommended. Only giving 4 stars because the best free sites have water pumps and vault toilets, but this is a great camping experience

      Huge Family Friendly Campground

This was our first trip to Keen Lake as a family. We took advantage of their "Gas Saver" program, which got us 4 weekends, including Labor Day weekend. Some of the sites are on the smaller side. It's HUGE so having a vehicle is almost necessary to get around. Campground and bathrooms were clean and well kept. Saturday night activities/music was a big hit with the kids. Pool is small but clean. Lake front beach is open and clean, but more rock than sand. Lots of rentals for water sports. Overall a great experience.

Beautiful forest with miles of trails. I found this spot passing through on my bike and had no problem pitching a tent in a secluded spot in the woods. There are official camp spots with water access which are also free to use. Highly recommend!

      Uncle Pete's Campground - CLOSED

      Prime Catskill Camping

I’ve been coming to Uncle Pete’s for the last 15 years. Very reasonably priced and a 2 minute drive from the center of town. Car camping so you can park right next to where you sleep, makes dining and sleeping comfortable very easy. Plenty of creekside tent sites that offer a large section of riverfront. Large baseball field and playgrounds for kids. Each site comes with an electric hookup, fire pit and picnic tables. Cheap firewood can be bought up front at the bathrooms. Becky and Danny are super accommodating!!

      Great campground

I’ll start with our arrival: well marked with signs directing you to office for checkin. They were very organized in the office. When we got to our site the sewer pipe was buried and we didn’t know where it was, they sent someone out to our site within minutes. After finding it they determined the top flange was crushed but I could still get my drain in there so they let it wait till the next day. They had it fixed by 10 am. We were there over 4th of July so the pool was pretty full during the weekend so we decided to utilize the lake for those days and enjoyed the pool during the week once some of the weekenders left. All facilities were clean and in working order. Jones dale was a short drive and they had a nice community celebration capped off with a great fireworks show. Keen had a great live band one night and my step son enjoyed the crafts and organized activities. We had fun kayaking and paddle boating on the huge lake.

      Great for families!

This is a great place for families. A lot to do and organized events. The lake is beautiful. If you have an RV, just beware that some of the sites are rather small and tight. Well kept. Staff is very friendly. You can have a quiet relaxing time or keep busy with activities.

      Pretty nice very helpful

I was directed to a site off the lake for tenting. We were secluded and it was nice. Bugs were bad, if you’re not a camper be prepared for weather and bugs. I was there a week and have to say they did a nice job. Wish the sites were a little bigger but I was able to seclude myself enough thanks to the store recommendations.
