ScoutThere is only a small place for tents. Mostly people go there with campers. Not your typical campground. Very easy to hop on transit to get to New York City. People were friendly.
GuideThis is all about location. The closest RV park to NYC. It's basically a parking lot with a dump station. Not much else. Pick one of the larger end row sites to get a little extra elbow room. If it's packed, your neighbor with be within inches of your rig. Pluses, minutes walk to the Statue of Liberty, liberty Science center. Two blocks away from NJ Path train into Manhattan or take the ferry to Wall Street!
TravelerBasicly a parking lot, but the location can't be beat. 2 ferries that run to Manhattan. Path train is a 12 minute walk away that will take you yyo manhatten. Jersey city has a lot of restaurants and bars walking distance. Wonderful state park, liberty park, a bike ride ride away. Our experience was very good.

LegendAllaire State Park is a favorite spot of mine. In addition to their tent sites and group gathering areas (we have had several family reunions here), we enjoy all the activities! There is a historical village where you can visit a blacksmith shop and other spaces to learn about the history. They have a flea market many weekends in the summer months and in early fall. They also. Have Halloween themed events like a hayride. Lots of walking paths surround the park & you are also close to Belmar, Point Pleasant, Manasquan (all fun shore towns). Bathroom maintenance could use some sprucing up, but other than that- great place to visit.

The location is great, but the surrounding streets may be hard to maneuver with an RV if youâre a newbie. You can see the Statue of Liberty from the park, and there were several cafes and restaurants within walking distance.
If youâre looking for actual amenities, this probably isnât the park for you. But if you just need a base camp for doing tourist activities in NYC then this place will do.
There is 24 hour security which is nice as well. We felt safe while we were there, but it was also fairly empty too.
GuideSo... the âcampgroundâ is nothing special. Literally a parking lot with water & electric hookups. Larger rigs will barely have a yard. And donât bet on a private picnic table. On a slow checkout day, you might get lucky enough to not wait in line for the dump station.
Weâve paid much less for âmoreâ... the $120 price per night was ridiculous. But being that they have no competitors in the area (and they know it), RVers wanting a quick escape to see NYC can get it here. The ONLY thing we really liked about it was itâs convenient location to the city with easy access to the ferry boats.
The area itself was under a ton of construction when we drove in, which meant for difficult to navigate roads and we barely squeezed by larger trucks who were also in the roadways. But we did manage to walk our way to the marina restaurant âSurf Cityâ, which was a unique and fun spot for end of day dinner & drinks.
We would only consider staying here again during the âoff-seasonâ months when the campground isnât busy. The woman who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful when helping us figure out how to get around without driving.
ScoutWe stayed here for 5 days and it was ok. There was this crazy lady who called herself Nancy who was next to us. It was ok at first but as the week went on she became NUTS. The trip was supposed to be 7 days but when i got up at 6 to take a run there was Nancy right outside my door. We cut the trip short but it is a nice campground minus the creepy people.

Staff is average, as this is not meant to be high end. They are nice but a bit rough. We had some issues with our converter and they wanted to extort a 20% commission to allow our repair man in. A bit of logical conversation put that idea to sleep. Sites kind of level and very close. Power and water, and convenient dump station if staying and needing to dump. The bath house was above average and heated. The laundry was helpful and was acceptable. Having a view of Lady Liberty out your window is priceless.
Getting in and out of the city is an adventure. Stay right off the highway to avoid the $30 tunnel toll. Follow RV life pro and not Waze.
