San Francisco Hot Springs Trailhead Dispersed — Gila NF

Description

Open high-desert terrain in Gila National Forest's southwestern New Mexico unit spreads across the trailhead for San Francisco Hot Springs Trail, where a dirt road off the highway opens into multiple level sites with fire rings spread across open terrain near Sundial Mountain. The road continues past the trailhead offering additional spots farther in — most handle rigs of any size on dry ground, though the dirt surface gets sticky after rain. The trail itself descends into a shaded canyon along the San Francisco River, a roughly 3-mile round trip with steep sections.
