## Overview

 This campground in the Manzano Mountains offers a variety of amenity and site types to fit your needs. Tucked into the pines at 7,600 feet of elevation are a mix of horse corrals, single sites, double sites, all with picnic tables and grills, and a group picnic day use area. Explore both the upper loop, with amenities for horses, and the lower loop with lots of sites to find the campsite that fits your needs.
## Recreation

 Communal areas are available at this campground. The lower loop has a communal fire ring and the upper loop has a large day use area as well as access to trailheads. Horse riding and hiking are popular in this area.
## Facilities

 All campsites have picnic tables and grills. Many sites also have fire rings. Several sites are \"double\" sites with multiple sets of amenities. The campgrounds are further equipped with bear safe trash receptacles and vault toilets in shared areas. 
## Natural Features

 Many sites are partial shade due to the tall tree cover across the campground.

The Best Camping Near Mountainair, New Mexico

Great camp with most hook ups. They don't have sewer but they do have a dump station. Mostly back in spaces so pay attention what side your door is on and opens to. Very nice place. Good water pressure. Great TV reception from Alb, NM TV stations. Lot of radio stations too.  

Great place in the woods

This is not the state park campground. This is the NFS campground in beautiful setting. 
No reservation required.
Right next to trailheads.
Great Mountain biking on forest roads that link canyons.
Toilets but no water so come prepared.

Nice location 

Came recommended by a friend. Beautiful secluded spot in the Manzanos. Nice kid-friendly trails adjacent to the campground. We had a nice shady site, some others seemed more exposed.

Relaxing weekend getaway 

There are vault toilets, trash bins, and bear boxes. This campground is nice with sites for RV and tent camping. We camped here one night with our scout troop. I did have spotty T-Mobile service, others had phone service as well but I’m not sure of their provider. We had a great night with a campfire and a good view of the stars and moon. All was well until someone started illegally cutting down trees at 2 in the morning. After an annoying couple of hours they were gone, most of our group were wide awake and tried to go back to sleep. We stayed at the site till afternoon with no other problems, just a group of tired scouts. 

Nice Campground, loud nighttime visitors 

I’ve been here a couple times. The site itself is in a really nice area with lots of pine trees and direct trail access. The only issue is it seems a lot of people who come here don’t know camp etiquette and leave the sites completely trashed. Fire pits buried and unusable, beer cans and trash everywhere. I’d recommend going before Memorial Day while the sites are still clean

Come early

We stayed in the camping area near the trailhead. Very green and lush with deer visiting our site at dusk! 

Wildflowers and deer! 

This is an amazing campsite. There are nice fire pits and picnic spots. However, though there are bathrooms at the location, they are really smelly and flies surround them. 

Red Canyon

 Connectivity was spotty. I did get a phone call while using the bathroom in the lower campground. Beautiful campground with large spaces. Not crowded.
