Fishing and paddling draw campers to Asaayi (Bowl Canyon) Lake, a free, tribally managed site on Navajo lands in northwestern New Mexico. Access is rough, so high-clearance vehicles are recommended before arrival. The campground provides toilets, picnic tables, and trash service, with campfires and pets permitted. Campers arriving by boat or on foot have the same basic amenities available. Wheatfields Lake Campground sits roughly 17 miles northwest for those building a multi-stop itinerary through the region.

Free camping, but entry fee required as well as a permit.
Camping is allowed in designated areas of the Navajo Nation. Permits are required and can be obtained through the Navajo Parks and Recreations website at navajonationparks.org. You will also be required to abide by the rules when camping and any violation to the rules is considered trespassing on Federal Indian Reservation. However we want you to enjoy Navajo Nation land, because there is much to see and experience.

$10 Entrance fee (CASH ONLY) & NN Fishing License required. Day use only, Wednes. to Sunday, from 8am to 4:30pm.
