Loved the atmosphere and how much there was to do!

Many things to do!

The Las Vegas, NM KOA was one of the prettiest KOA settings I have seen.  It is a stunning location, and the town of Las Vegas is charming.  The owners are were kind and helpful.  That being said, this property is tired and in need of some maintenance and love.  Our camping cabin needed chinking, I could see light through the logs.  Happily there was a heater for the cold rainy night.  The shower house was in great need of an update.  Breakfast was delicious, but really slow as there was only one kind gentleman doing the cooking and there were several groups to feed.  Some people cancelled their orders and left rather than staying to eat.

All that said, I would stay here again.  The people were kind, the cost was reasonable, and it still beats a tent in the rain when passing through on a long road trip.  And as I said at that start - it is beautiful.  My kids loved the playground.

This was our base of operations for a visit to Fort Union National Historic Site.

Top notch beauty, but needs some work

We stopped here for an overnighter and it was not the most aesthetic choice, but the town of Las Vegas is quite charming. The town has a great plaza and historic hotel where we had a pretty good meal. The sunsets and landscape in this part of New Mexico really take your breath away.

Campground close to a cool little town

We came to see the town, because when passing through NM you have to stop and see how their Vegas compares, you know. The town was pretty neat! I loved all the history there. The KOA on the other hand has seen better days. The hosts were really sweet people but the establishment needed some fixing. The showers weren't very clean and it seemed like the faucet was going to fall out of the wall.. So overall.. if you were going to stay here I would suggest spending most of your time in the town because the camp site isn't worth while...

Come for the town.

It has 60 RV Spots with hookups, 2 tent areas and some cabins. A playground, pool (closed due to Covid), dog run area and volleyball. The campground is very nice and clean but not too much to do around. They do however have a little store and gift shop and a game room. 

Nice and cozy 

We were hit by a blizzard driving through the I-25 pass from Santa Fe to Denver and had to take refuge in the KOA Las Vegas, NM for 2 nights. They quickly got us a space and allowed us to wait out the snow. Clean restrooms and showers, a shop in the grounds that serves breakfast. Hikes nearby. Very welcoming and friendly hosts.

Fishing, boating and even scuba diving! The blue hole is a close drive where you can swim and scuba dive in the desert!

4/5/2021 Right off the highway. One of the nicer KOA's we have stayed at in the Southwest. True, the sites are close together which is typical at KOA's but this campground had lots of established trees which was nice (meaning shade). Many pull through sites. Full hookups. One of the unique things is they provide a full breakfast for a very nominal cost which got us going and out quickly. Pancakes, Eggs, Potatoes (with green chilis). It was really tasty. Despite being right off the highway it is quiet. Playground for kids. They are clearly working on improving and updating the sites. Fresh gravel. Looked very clean and well kept. The short dirt road was a little rough between the interstate and the entrance.  We were welcomed warmly and felt appreciated. We would stay here again.

A nicer KOA

We were here for overnight stay after not being able to find anything in Santa Fe.  We typically don’t book KOA due to close campers and lots of kids.  Host -Chris was very nice and helpful.  Campsites were nice.  Perfect for big rigs.  Bathrooms were outdated but clean.  It was perfect for what we needed and we appreciated the last minute booking!

My wife and I stayed here 1 night in put 30ft travel trailer. End of October.

Called the staff the day if our stay because we weren't going to make it to our final destination. They had plenty of spots left and we were able to book one. Staff was friendly and accommodating. 

Spots were farily close to one another but well maintained. Had electric and water at our spot which worked fine. It was a pull-through spot and was easy enough to access.

The public use facilities were clean enough.

I'd stay here again if I needed a similar accommodation.

Perfect spot in a pinch

The whole crew seemed to be experienced. friendly, accommodating and right on top of operations. Clean shower and common areas with a homemade breakfast available too!  It’s off season but the core functions are solid so I could see another stop here to soak in the sun and the pool.

Pulled in and got a nice treed site. Most natural and beautiful KOA I’ve been to. The owner was friendly and accommodating. 

Great Grounds 

Our stay was just 3 nights but it was in the right place at the right time.  Many trees and not too far from Santa Fe and Taos and Chimayo. 

Nice place quiet

Made a last-minute reservation here for an overnight stay and we wouldn't be back. The sites were cramped and surrounded by bare dirt that rainstorms turn into mud holes. My impression may have been colored by the weather, but we were underwhelmed (especially given the price--for $70 a night, I expect the property to be in much better shape). Regrading the drives and adding fresh gravel would go a long way to improving the look and feel of the campground. As one of the higher priced KOA's we've visited, we expected the property to be better maintained.

One of the best RV parks we've ever stayed at. We'll maintained. Easy in &amp; out set up. Helpful, friendly staff. Beautiful scenic location surrounded by the Rockies. Only drawback is I-70 west of Denver. 

KOA Denver West/Central 

Great location for an overnight stop. Right next door to Walmart and Village Inn pancake house. Good pull through sites, so easy in and out. Quiet.

The campground is very basic with few amenities or points of interest. Nice bathrooms. The biggest issue was the intense highway noise and light from the nearby billboards. A night spot was the nice breakfast available and friendly host. 

Okay spot near highway

Easy off/on I25. Campsites are spread out with trees separating sites. The only bad is water pressure; very low. We slowly filled tank and used our pump.

Country Setting

We stayed here in June for two nights. The days were warm, but the nights were lovely. We were in spot 53 which was a long pull through, but very narrow and close to the neighboring spots. We were lucky that they were not reserved so we had a little more room. We were glad we were in the trees due to the daytime temps. If you need a large spot, 1 through 7 have a nice view of the valley, but no trees. Resident and neighboring dogs and cats roam throughout and may come visit your campsite. The county road to the campground is nice and quiet and makes for a good place to go for long walks.

Good for a couple of nights

Really like this KOA. At first thought it was out of the way but really like it. Just off I25.
Nice Big Rig friendly. Some of the sites I went by thought was not level but then you look closer the pad itself was very level. Nice pool.

Older but very nice

This was a nice place to stay for a couple nights. Check in was fast and friendly. They have a dog park. It is off the highway but nice and secluded. Pretty location and outside of Las Vegas, NM. It isn’t a five star because the sites are pretty close together

Nice and safe

Super hospitable, friendly staff. Cute cats and dogs all around. Pretty views and conveniently located within driving distance of a lot of attractions. Def recommend checking out the local hot springs. The breakfast is good and a great value, very convenient.
