Reaching Bear Trap Campground requires a rough road that trucks and AWD SUVs can manage, but RVs of any size should stay away. The drive is long, and rain can make the route impassable for an extended stretch. Cement picnic tables are spaced with enough distance between them to give average privacy. A stream runs nearby, making the site a reasonable spot for birding. Campers heading into the sites near Cibola National Forest should note this campground operates May through October. Bring supplies, as the remote location leaves little margin for forgotten gear.
