Cedar Creek Recreation Area sits within Lincoln National Forest, managed by the US Forest Service, at the end of a road that terminates in a small, mostly flat parking lot. Two trails depart from the lot, and a handful of tent sites are located close to the trailhead. The area has a three-night stay limit. Pets are allowed, and cell service is available. Campers wanting more options in the area can find dog-friendly camping near Lincoln National Forest. Nearby, Middle Fork at Cedar Creek provides an alternative for those who want a different setup along the same drainage.
Description
Located on the outskirts of Ruidoso, Cedar Creek provides a wonderful space for groups visiting for the day or staying overnight. With a picnic shelter and three group campsites, the recreation area is ideal for an outing in Lincoln National Forest. A popular pastime is is hiking and mountain biking along the scenic multi-use trails adjacent to the Sam Tobias Memorial Group Campground. There are opporunities to see a number of different wildlife, including Mule deer and Elk in the area.
