Polson-Flathead Lake KOA

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Sitting on the western shore of Flathead Lake in Polson, Montana, this KOA runs from mid-April through mid-October and accommodates everything from tent campers to large rigs up to 74 feet. The campground overlooks the lake directly, and reviewers consistently mention the open views of the water as a defining feature of the property. Access is by drive-in or boat, and the layout is organized enough that first-time visitors report orienting themselves quickly.

RV sites come with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer, and reviewers describe them as spacious and level, with individual patios and chairs. Tent sites are available but come with trade-offs: they sit in the open with no tree cover, and at least one camper noted that parking requires a short walk from a nearby lot rather than pulling up directly to the site. WiFi reaches the main building but may not extend reliably to tent areas.

The on-site amenities go well beyond the basics. The campground includes a pool, hot tub, mini golf, basketball and volleyball courts, a dog run, laundry facilities, a small market, and a snack bar. Showers are private and individual, housed in the main building, and multiple reviewers flag the bathrooms as consistently clean. Bambi K. notes the lake looks "like Caribbean," which gives a sense of the water's color in summer. Campers wanting dispersed alternatives in the region can find options like MT 200 Dispersed — Flathead River Corridor a short distance away. Sites here book up in July and August, so reservations well in advance are advisable for summer visits.

One night at Polson KOA

My husband I stayed at the Polson KOA (Polson, Mt) one night while we were there visiting a friend and his family. It's convenient if you don't want to spend too much money on a hotel room. The place looked really pretty and the Motorcoach resort attached to it was also pretty and looked very well maintained. You could even sleep in the back of your car (if you have room). We slept in the back of our 2015 Subaru Outback. They have well maintained showers and bathrooms that look like they get cleaned every day. You should wear bathroom slippers or flip flops or something to avoid potential plantar warts in case someone who had it showered there. There's a small gift shop, where you go to check in when you get there. It's kind of like getting a hotel room, except you sleep in your car/tent/camper and walk to the main building for bathrooms/showers. For food, you can drive to town in Polson.

Beautiful campground

Beautiful spot with great views of Flathead Lake. The RV sites were nice and spacious and level with their own patio and chairs. They also offer cabins and tent sites. Some tent sites have water and electric. I was car camping and I had a strange campsite by the cabins for a tent but I couldn't park at the site. There was a small lot close by so that was fine but it also seemed pretty far from the bathrooms. The bathroom was very clean and I loved the private showers. The laundry area was spacious and clean. They also had several brochures on local activities. The wifi didn't seem to reach the tent sites though.

Best of the Rockies

Funny, welcoming host, the best mountain and lake views you will find and a clear layout. The tent sites are just out in the open with no tree cover, but maybe they feel generous even offering them.
