Caribou Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing and wildlife viewing draw campers to this small US Forest Service site along a creek in Kootenai National Forest, where the sound of moving water carries through the trees. Caribou Campground has just three sites, vault toilets, and trash service. No potable water is available on-site. The campground sits close to a road, though reviewers note traffic is light. No pets are allowed. Those planning a broader itinerary can find campgrounds around Kootenai National Forest to compare nearby options. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day, this small forested site works best for campers who travel light and want direct creek access.

Heaven on Earth

Went to Caribou but was shut. There were many others right there. Amazing! Spacious w/snow caps and river runs through it.

Sweet spot

Three campsites, a gorgeous creek, and a clean vault toilet. It is close to the road but not a busy one, and the sound of the water more than covers any traffic noise.

Primitive!

This campground is as primitive as you can yet, yet beautiful. Although situated right off the road, this spot tucks in next to the creek and provides great access to northern Yaak area and lots of wildlife and hiking. The location does not include water (other than the creek) but does have pit toilets.
