North of Chester along the Marias River, BLM Moffat Bridge Recreation Area operates as a Bureau of Land Management campground from April through September. The facility sits in the rolling prairie landscape of north-central Montana, where cottonwoods line the riverbank and provide some shade for camping spots.
The campground serves as a base for exploring the Marias River corridor and accessing nearby Lake Elwell. Campers can find additional overnight options at Sanford Park Campground, located northwest along the reservoir shoreline. The BLM manages this site with basic amenities typical of federal recreation areas in the region.
