Cross Timbers Road Dispersed — Bull Shoals Recreation Area

Deep in the Ozark hill country of Bull Shoals Recreation Area, this wooded pullout sits at the foot of a rugged off-road track along a rocky creek — one of the few spots in the area where you can camp directly beside running water. The access road off Cross Timbers Road is rocky, rutted, and unforgiving; high clearance is strongly advised, and soft gravel sections can catch low-slung vehicles off guard. The site levels out under a tree canopy with minimal light pollution and the kind of quiet that draws wildlife — bear precautions are worth taking.
