The Best Camping Near Two Harbors, Minnesota

$29 for tiny, terrible primitive sites just squeezed in between the others - or - you can have a well-spaced out site right next to Minnesota 1\. Frustrating. RVers and more deluxe tent campers are right on top of one another - no privacy.

Terrible for Tent Campers

We got last spot available during prime peek colors! We were happy to have a site and just glad to have gotten a spot!!!! Campsite wasnt bad just packed!

The campground wasn't the best we've been to but it met our needs! Two Harbors is such a cute little town on the North Shore! Make sure you take time to go down to the pier and check out Agate Bay!

Lighthouse

We spent three nights in this campground because we wanted to visit the town of Two Harbors and visit some of the nearby state parks that are known for their waterfalls. The park has 136 sites with various water, electric, and sewer hook-ups options. In addition, there are 10 primitive tent sites. The price fluctuates depending on what utilities you have and if you are on the “lakeside” or not or in the new “expansion” section. It is nice to have these pricing options if you are on a camping budget and don’t want to pay $38/night for a site but still want to stay here. Be aware that the price is based on parties of a maximum of four and one vehicle per site (with children under 12 staying for free) so the cost may go up depending on how many are in your party.

The newest section (sites 1B - 34B) has three tiered rows that have nice views of the lake but no shade for trees and there is no bathroom in this section. The tent sites are in a very undesirable location right as you enter the park which is very open so you are on display. And, because they are located near a busy road it is much nosier.

We stayed in site 82 and had trouble getting the RV level but loved that we backed up to the lake and had a nice campfire with great view. The sites along the lake are tighter than some others with just a grassy strip between you and your neighbor. But, the view is great. The bathhouse nearest our campsite was super old with cinder block walls and concrete floors and not very appealing.

While the park offers Wifi it was not very good and we just used our Verizon hotspot. Wood and ice are sold at the park but you are just a few miles from town and a large grocery if you need supplies. One of the best features of this park is being on the lake with access. There is a path leading from the campground to a beach where you can hang out or launch canoes/kayaks. We also loved that there was a trail (the Sonju Trail) accessible from the campground which led to a lighthouse and view of the harbor where you could watch the large Great Lakes freighters fill with iron ore.

Adjacent to the park is the Chamber of Commerce where we talked to a very knowledgeable and guy who gave us lots of information and recommendations on what to do in Two Harbors and the surrounding area. He was such a wealth of information and after talking to him we wished we had more time in the area to do all that he recommended. Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock State Parks are close by and definitely worth a visit. Another place you may want to visit is Betty’s Pie Shop.

Nice Water Views

This campground is busy but not overcrowded. Their tent sites for the most part are open but large enough to feel like you have some privacy and space. The campground is right on Lake Superior with an easy walk to the beach. Nice playground. The bathrooms are clean though definitely older. The handicap accessible bathroom is still up a slight incline. Also it is only a permanent outhouse-there are no lights, no sinks or even hand sanitizer in it so that was disappointing. Employees were nice-however when calling to make a reservation it went right to voicemail I left a message and never got a call back…we decided to just stop and see if they had vacancies and they did. Overall we would definitely stay there again.

Nice for a couple days 

This campground is a perfect “home base” for exploring Minnesota’s North Shore. The sites right on Lake Superior give you the opportunities to wake up ecery morning to a view of the lake as well as watching the big ships go to and from Two Harbors and Duluth. The campground is great for families- with a playground, beach and rock hunting along the shore. The sites are nice, and the campground and bathrooms are always clean. There are sites for almost every type of camping experience too.

Great North Shore Campground

I stayed there as a tent camper for three nights and it was a great campground to start my six months camping trip. The sites arent all in straight orders more chaotic just how i love it. I met the most lovely campers on my tour. I was invited for smores and bbq pies at one site, my other neighbors brought me fresh brewed coffee in the morning and i was given a special brewed beer from a german town after they heard i am german. I took really nice hikes alongside the shore and took some really nice pictures. The view at the lake was calming and relaxing.

Free spirit

If your objective is a daytrip or weekend trip to Two Harbors without dropping a lot of money for lodging, this is an adequate campground. There is a good new bathhouse facility, and the location of the campground is primo for exploring the Two Harbors area. However, the campsites are small, jampacked together, and open without trees. RVers will find the anrnities they need, but even for them I think they might find it a bit crowded. Not good for tent campers, no privacy, a lot of noise, and hard tent sites. Car camping might not be so bad if you really want to be in the Two Harbors area. Campground closes mid October to mid May.

Adequate for staying in Two Harbors

Two Harbors is a neat little deep port town on Lake Superior with a very busy campground just on the edge of town. The campground overlooks the lake and a few lucky sites have lake access. Most sites in the main campground are tiny and on top of each other, and most people were camping with RV’s or campers, though not all sites have hookups. There is an auxiliary RV area across the street from the beach where all sites have hookups, but it is in the full sun and the pull through sites are right next to each other. The bathroom is clean, considering how many people have to use it. It seemed that there were campground staff buzzing around on golf carts constantly to see to the needs of the campgrounds. Firewood, ice, t-shirts, and other sunderies are available for purchase at the campground store, but you are not far from the grocery stores for your bigger needs. I found the campground to be loud, but that might just be because there is nowhere for noise to dissipate between sites since they are on top of each other.

Everything you need on the lake

Nice size campground for Rvs and tents. Some sites have nice tree coverage some don’t. Some sites have fantastic views of the lake. I felt the campsites were a little on the small size. Bathrooms were clean. Nice playground for the kids and steps down to the lake to hike was nice.

Nice campground off of Lake Superior

Burlington Bay City Campground is in Two Harbors, Mn only 30 minutes from historic Duluth , Mn. Some of the sites are very open and everyone can see your business but the views and access that you get of Lake Superior make up for that. 

This is a city run campground with everything you need to enjoy your time on the North Shore. The campground is located inside to two harbors which makes it very accessible to walking to town and to the local brewery their Castle danger brewery. You can jump right into Lake Superior that’s connected to the campground and, some of the campsites are right on the shore of the lake which makes it amazing if you like to swim, kayak or paddle board. 

You can stay at this campground for $36 a night for electric and water hook up 40$ a night for 30amp electric, water and, sewer and 40$ a night for 50amp electric, water and sewer. Primitive non electric sites are 28$ a night. Firewood is 6$ a bundle and extra tents on sites are only 10$. If you pull a boat or other trailer it’ll cost you 5$ dollars a night extra and an extra vehicle also cost you 5$ dollars a night. 

This is a pretty cool campground because it’s broken up into sections so you don’t feel so crammed in there with everybody. 

Spectacular views and cozy campsites

The sites are small... very small. Barely fit my 21 foot trailer in because the turn was ridiculous to get in the site. The bathroom was in disrepair and we ended up not using it. The police roll through about every 2 hours for no good reason. 

It is on Lake Superior and it does have water and electric for a decent price. 

Choose wisely. 

For a couple car camping with a tent this place suited our needs. Conveniently located between split rock and Duluth it’s easy to explore the north shore from here. With that being said it’s a louder and camper heavy campground with very little privacy. The lake view is spectacular and all around I would recommend this place to anyone looking to camp somewhere convenient on the north shore.

Convenient but busy 

The main reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the Hwy noise. Very close to the highway and you know it. They did try to give every site a glimpse of the lake though. There is a hand full of sites that have great views. We also did not like how close together some sites are to each other. Which brings me to our last point. The W/S &amp; E are scattered and placement. Our sewer connection was close to the next sites outdoor rug, they could have covered it if they wanted. The same goes for the other side of us. Thankfully there was no one there, when we were there. We had site 86 in the beginning of June. All in all, YES we would go back. 

Nice City ran park. 

Sites are really close, but nice gravel pads. Prices are great.  Beach is close and a really nice spot to relax.
Lots of attractions nearby and within driving  and walking distance.

The view is amazing! 

The campground is located in a very nice small town and the water sites are amazing for sunrise. The campground has all the amenities you need; Full hookups, water, dump station, fire rings, and picnic tables. Tent sites were the most numerous, but there were several RVs. We saw everything from big RVs to motorcycles here. Things were clean but it was a super packed when we were there. You can't sit outside without getting to know your neighbors inner secrets! 

  

The view and access to water is what would bring us back.

Not Private, but beautiful setting 

This campground is adjacent to the Burlington Bay Campground. It has 3 rows of 11 sites meant for full hookup and big rigs. They are terraced so sites 24-34 are on the top while 1-12 are closest to the water and on the bottom of the hill. 

This is specifically meant for big rigs. No shade and no privacy unless you are inside. What they do offer is great facilities and an amazing view! There is also a community feel here where everyone most likely talks to each other and knows each other by the end of their stay. At the bottom of the hill is the waterfront. You can do a lot from here. 

You can rent for $45.00 per night or $276.00 per week. Sites are packed graves so they are level and easy in and out with your rig. Wouldn’t want to tent camp here. They have a nice shower house and dump stations as would be needed for big rigs. It is newer than the additional campground and still close to Lake Superior. 

Big Rig Paradise

Very quiet area, and our site was overlooking the water, which offered an amazing view. Will definitely be returning here again. 

Beautiful views

Smaller campground located in two harbors.  Super nice personnel. Clean. Gravel sites with grass. The lake is right there.It shows $10 fee on the dyrt but it’s $46 including tax for an RV with the electric and water no sewer.

Just Right

The area is beautiful with a lot to see and do. The camp is clean and for very full this time of year with many campers enjoying the color change on the north shore. Would like a little more forest around me but for a convenient spot I would stay here again in the future. Very clean. As far as quiet you listen to the waves hitting the shore line. Bring a jacket if you plan to be next to the water. 


Right on Lake Superior

Any time on the North Shore is a great time!  A lot to do and see. Clean restrooms and showers. The sites are a little close and not much privacy, but the view is awesome. 

North Shore Lake Superior 

Burlington Bay Campground was clean. The shower house by the playground was clean and new. The playground seemed fairly new and the kids loved playing on it. Walking on the beach lead to a nice City trail. The kids loved climbing all over the rock formations and finding new rocks. 

  

The sites are close together and small. We tent camped and the ground was super hard. I am glad I had my MSR Groundhog stakes since my other stakes would not have worked. My MSR Groundhog stakes took a beating getting them into the ground. 

  

The water from the site was good. Firewood at the campground is$6.00 a bundle and it is not well aged so it is a little hard to get going. The shop on site is nice and they stock quality items. 

  

I would stay there again, but in the off-season so the campground is not full of people.

Great Views and Kid friendly

Spacious, beautiful overlook of Lake superior. The wind off the lake is chilly so bring layers. Firewood is $7, Firestarter are $5. Ppl very friendly and after 10 pm it is quiet. 10/10 would come again 

Great campground 

We were warmly greeted by the friendly staff. Our campsite was on the hill in the David Dill addition. I appreciated the view of the bay without the tighter constraints of the original campground on the lake. The bathhouse was clean and well maintained plus it was key coded so no worries about unwelcome intruders while showering. Our neighbors were all incredibly friendly. Nice grass - nice picnic table. Perfect breeze made for a fantastic visit. We will plan another visit for certain.  There is a full service gas station that you could easily walk to for those forgotten items. Two Harbors is great. Lou’s Fish House, Rustic Inn pies, Castle Danger beer. Such a cute fun area. 

This campground will be a repeat

First off, the location listed in The Dyrt is incorrect - this campground is on Lake Superior in Two Harbors MN. The lakeside sites are beautiful and ok space wise, but beware if your site is towards the middle of the park - they are super small and crowded. Sites near the road are very noisy. Luckily we had a site on the lake with gorgeous views of Superior. The park is well maintained, and the bathroom/shower building is clean. Would only return if a lakeside site was available.

Peaceful 

Busy but beautiful campground. Great location looking at Superior Lake. Bathrooms in the Burlington sites are not as nice as the newer campgrounds. Could use more cleaning. 

Great location

Burlington Bay is one of the cleanest, most easily accessible campgrounds in Minnesota.

There are many waterfront sites and the beach is just a short walk from the grounds. There is an incredible trail that you can (and should!) use to walk into Two Harbors and grab a beer at Castle Danger.


The only downside is that it is VERY close to the freeway and you do get some car noise.

Easy Access to Amazing Views

Very noisy from highway traffic. Sites are crammed as close together as possible. A constant flow of campers in and out. If it wasn’t for beautiful Lake Superior view and beach I would give it two stars.

Noisy

Nestled along the North shore of beautiful Lake Superior in the City of Two Harbors, Minnesota. You can rent kayaks, paddle boards or bicycles from local vendors or hike on our paved and unpaved City trail system as you explore the area. You can pick agates, go fishing, or boating or visit one of our local shops and museums. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Campground has bathrooms, shower facilities, and Wi-Fi.

A little close to hwy 61 so be prepared for road noise.

Nice alternative to state parks

Large campground run by the city of Two Harbors.

 It has 4 areas of RV camping &amp; 12 primitive tent sites.

  

 The tent sites by the David Dill area were shady with trees Willow is near the dump station.

  

 Burlington sites 1-66 have water &amp; electric. There's a row that has lakeside camping. The sites are mostly sunny with some shade. All are close together. There is a lake view. Apparently there's a path with lake access, but not sure which site this was by. 

The playground is here. Dumpster, dump station &amp; restrooms with showers.

  

 Agate sites are 67-91. is a loop with full hookup. 73-75, 77, 79,81-84, have beautiful views of the lake, but difficult lake access. Most of this loop is full sun&amp; very close together sites. 

We were at site 70 &amp; at first I was bummed out not having a lake view. This is my own fault for dithering about what campground I wanted. I was lucky- this was the last site for my dates. I have later found out that someone must have cancelled for this site &amp; I was lucky enough to get it. Reservations fill up quick a year in advance. 

This site is narrow, but shady. There's foliage to the left separating it from Site 72 (which has a partial lake view) &amp; the back separating it from the Burlington sites. There was a white tail doe walking thru it the first day we were there.

 Sites 67/68 &amp; 70 are close. Our fire pit was only a few feet from site 68's. There's more shade here though.

Site 69 is somewhat secluded &amp; has shade &amp; easy access to the bathroom. 

The site across from us was a long site parallel to the road. It was empty the 2 nights we were here.

Sites 92 to 102 are a little down the road in rows on both sides of the road. Again close together. Full hookup. Just a few feet away from Hwy 61.

  

 David Dill sites are 1B to 34B These are full hookup sites terraced on a hill. Big rig friendly. There's a bathhouse by the visitor center for David Dill &amp; the tenters.

Very close together &amp; sunny. They have a pretty good view of the beach &amp; lake. 

24B to 34B have the best being lowest on the hill. There's a road- then a rocky beach.

  

 All parts of this campground were full on a Friday/Saturday night. The office has a small gift shop. Open 8am to 8pm during the season. Check in's at noon- which is great! Check out at 11am.

We did see police patrol occasionally. Hwy 61 is only a few feet away &amp; is VERY loud. There's no Jake brake ordinance for Two Harbors &amp; the truckers are always doing it. 

This is a busy town!
