Merrill-Gorrel Park Campground

Merrill-Gorrel Park Campground operates seasonally from April through October in Sears, Michigan, providing lake access and basic camping facilities. The campground features two beaches and maintains clean restroom facilities, though campers should bring extra hoses and extension cords since water and electrical hookups may be positioned far from some sites. Staff enforces a slow-driving policy throughout the grounds, creating a family-friendly environment where children can bike safely.

Recent policy changes have restricted dogs from the cabin area, though the rest of the park remains pet-friendly. Campers seeking different amenities might consider Spring Lake State Forest Campground for a state forest experience.

No dogs at cabins

We have camped here as a family for the past 7 years. We rent two cabins and bring our dogs. We have never had an issue and always enjoyed ourselves.

At some point they decided the park can remain dog friendly besides the cabin area.

It wasn't announced on social media or the website.

Much to our surprise 10 minutes after unloading a park official approached us and told us our dogs had to go and they were not refunding our money.

They blamed us for not reading the fine print.  I'll take some of the blame but they should have done a better job of making people aware.

We are done with this park

Great with kids

Great spot for the family, 2 beaches. Quiet at night. Kids biked around all day and everyone drives slow! 🙌🏽 lots of shade, clean bathrooms, friendly staff! A great little campground

Great campground

Clean bathrooms, easy access to lake, nice beach Make sure to bring extra hose and extension cord as the water and electric can be a ways away from some sites.
