Red apple should be red alert
Well, it all started when we pulled in first thing they only take cash. So I worked that out then they pulled us into a super tight pull through spot you know the spot where you can watch your neighbors Tv next I tried to order a lobster to be delivered and the office said I need to order by 10am . Went the next morning at 10:05 and they told me I was too late . Really? also have to pay cash it gets even better. There are speed bumps every 10 feet in this place as if before they must’ve been a raceway and somebody got a deal on plastic speed bumps. It’s ridiculous I’m not going back.
Won't stay again!
The reviews here didn't match our experience. This campground is mostly filled with permanent residents. Many units have built decks and added sunrooms. It's more a trailer park than a campground.
It wasn't nice for short term campers like us. They only accept cash, and that should have made us wary. The sewer wafted odors the whole time and the stench crept into the RV. It was quite cold and raining, but we had to keep our fan on. The bathroom was spotless, but then we discovered why - the women's showers were unusable. They have a timer that was supposed to have a button to press every 60 seconds, but it was more like 30 seconds. It had to be pushed about 15 times to get warm water, and then my dial locked and the water was way too hot. It was literally painful washing the shampoo out of my hair. My daughter finally gave up and never did get any hot water. My husband reported that the men's showers had no push button and worked just fine. Apparently Red Apple thinks women are wasting water and we deserve to be punished for expecting a shower.
No "Hot Steamed Lobsters" were even offered. It's not close to anything, so not a convienient location.
On the plus side, the site was fairly level and the trees were nice. It was clean and well-maintained. It's no doubt great for the permanent residents. I can't recommend this place to female Dyrt campers. It's not for us! This was the only bad experience we had on our very long trip to Maine.
Cozy campground with many amenities!
Friendly staff, very easygoing. Heated bathrooms and hot showers. A heated pool too! Every site has water and electric hookups, a fire pit, and picnic table. Price was a little high, but the location was great and the amenities made it a very worthwhile trip!
