Fishing enthusiasts will find Lyon State Fishing Lake provides dispersed camping along the water's edge in east-central Kansas. The state-managed area allows RVs up to 30 feet and offers both drive-in and walk-in access to campsites. Campers can fish directly from the lake shore, explore hiking trails, or launch kayaks into the water.
The campground operates as a boondocking experience with no developed amenities beyond basic camping privileges. Campfires, pets, and alcohol are permitted throughout the area. Cell service reaches the lake, though campers should avoid parking vehicles on grassy areas to prevent damage. For additional camping infrastructure, Admire RV Park/Campground sits seven miles north with full hookups and facilities.
