Greene-Sullivan was founded in 1936 when various coal companies donated more than 3,000 acres of property to the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry. But that was just the beginning. Now the forest boasts almost 9,000 acres of beautiful woodland and rolling hills dotted with more than 120 lakes, making it one of the most unique areas in Indiana.  
If you're not fishing or camping, there's still something for you at Greene-Sullivan State Forest. Other favorite activities include hunting, picnicking, mushroom hunting, horseback riding, photography and wildlife viewing.

Must be 21 years of age or older to book a reservation. Up to five people per rent-a-camp cabin. 2 vehicles per site maximum. Leasing or sub-leasing rent-a-camp cabins or equipment on a site is prohibited. Quiet hours are daily 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Check-in time 3:00 p.m., check-out time is 12:00 noon.

The Best Camping Near Dugger, Indiana

There are many lake with good fishing, most of which have boat ramps (small boats). Great for kayaking and canoeing. There are cabins for rent, two campgrounds on Reservoir 26 and  Wampler lake. Reservoir 26 is open and flat (good for larger RVs) Wampler lake is not as open but RVs can get into some of the sites. Water is available, no electric.
There is not many trails for walking. Horse riding and camping are also available here.

This is a really interesting State Forest property evolving from a reclamation project of donated land from various coal companies. Now encompassing nearly 9000 acres of woodlands and what it’s best known for, some 120 lakes providing some of the best fishing in the state. The lakes are rich with bass, bluegill, crappy, redear and Airline Lake is even stocked annually with rainbow trout. This is truly a fisherman paradise…but don’t overlook the many other opportunities for mushroom hunting, hiking, horse riding, nature photography and enjoying the wildlife. There are some 100 campsites in three different locations; Narrow Lake, Reservoir 26 and Wampler Lake. Potable water is available in all three areas with and a dump station located at Narrow Lake. Narrow Lake campground is easily accessible via IN-159 and offers 15 year round cabins and several camping sites with electric service with reservations available on Reserve America. Sites on Wampler Lake and Reservoir 26 are all class c and offered as first come– first serve basis with self-serve check in stations for$13. Scout ahead to determine your comfort level as most of these sites are not conducive to larger campers and the gravel access roads are sometimes washboard. This is a little off the beaten path, but if you like a little more remote feel and some stellar fishing; this could be just what makes you smile! Approximately 35 miles south of I-70 or 35 miles west of I-69. Nearby is Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area, Minnehaha Fish and Wildlife Area and Shakamak State Park. The town of Linton is 15 minutes for grocery store, restaurants and Walmart. 39°2'42"N, 87°15'37"W

Fishing areas are plentiful here.  We rented a primitive cabin and it had the bare minimum. 

Great fishing 

My wife and I camped at the Narrow Lake Campground here for 4 nights, but did not like it due to its proximity to a highway. Additionally, the electric sites near the lake (P1-P3) were unlevel. Although we were in a travel trailer the highway noise kept us up.  Our hotspot had great connection which allowed me to work during the day.

Not a place to stay for a vacation

We originally planned to tent camp the first weekend in October but with 30 degree temps and children, we decided to check out the cabins at Greene Sullivan. They did not disappoint. Heat was phenomenal. Vault toilets were well maintained. Beautiful views.
