Shoshone county beauty!

This campground is basic but right up against the river with outhouses.

No developed facilities don’t scare me, especially when you get ALOT of privacy for a formal campground.

Bring a lot of bug repellent if in peak season for mosquitos. I got eaten alive when I stayed here.

This area was not very busy which I really liked for the peak time of year.

Our campsite had a double parking spot, picnic tables, and was facing a tree line but did not have many trees on the site.

There was a fire circle with a removable grill if you want to do some campfire cooking! The ring was very tall too so you don’t end up cooking in the middle of the flames like with the stout fire rings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Turner Flat Campground?

Turner Flat Campground is located alongside a river, making it a scenic destination for campers. The campground is accessible by vehicle, though specific driving directions would depend on your starting point. Since it's a more basic and private campground, you might need to navigate some less-developed roads to reach it. For precise directions, it's recommended to check with the managing agency (likely Forest Service or BLM) before your trip, as GPS services may not provide reliable guidance to this somewhat secluded location.

What amenities are available at Turner Flat Campground?

Turner Flat Campground offers basic amenities in a natural setting. The campground provides outhouses for restroom needs but has no developed facilities beyond that. The campground is situated right against a river, offering beautiful waterfront camping spots. Campers should be prepared for primitive camping conditions and bring all necessary supplies including water, as potable water is not available on-site. The lack of facilities is balanced by the exceptional privacy this campground offers compared to more developed sites.

Do I need a reservation for Turner Flat Campground?

Turner Flat Campground likely operates on a first-come, first-served basis, as is common with more basic Forest Service or BLM campgrounds. Given its private nature and undeveloped character, it may not participate in standard reservation systems. To secure a spot, especially during weekends or holidays, arriving early is recommended. The campground's emphasis on privacy suggests it may have limited sites available. Check with the managing agency before your trip to confirm the current reservation policy.

When is Turner Flat Campground open?

Turner Flat Campground is typically open during the standard camping season, likely late spring through early fall, though exact dates may vary based on weather conditions and managing agency policies. Be aware that mosquitoes can be particularly intense during peak summer months, so early or late season visits might provide a more comfortable experience. For current opening dates, contact the managing agency that oversees the campground, as seasonal closures may change based on environmental conditions or maintenance needs.
