Where the North Fork Clearwater River meets Dworshak Reservoir, Big Eddy Marina & Lodge operates as a boat-in, hike-in, and walk-in campground within Dworshak State Park. Idaho Parks and Recreation manages this site, which requires a backpacking approach along a trail that starts steep for the first half-mile before leveling out. Free dispersed camping sites begin after 4.5 miles down the trail.
The shoreline drops off quickly into deep water rather than offering a gradual beach entry. Campers can access the reservoir for swimming, though a water filtration system is necessary for drinking water. Sites typically have firewood available, and the campground allows campfires, pets, and alcohol. Plan to carry all gear in, as vehicle access is not available to the camping areas.
