The Top of Georgia is a RV campground and park for owners of Airstream manufactured RVs, travel trailers and motor homes. Non-Airstream RVs are welcome if traveling with a buddy that is camping with an Airstream. The park is located in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains near the beginning of the Appalachian trail. The AT crosses the ridge just 10 minutes from the park which is nestled down in the valley. With 102 full hookup sites with two 30 amp and 120 amp receptacles per site, there is more than enough room for your crew. Most sites have a paved parking pad and a paved patio where you can enjoy the mountain view. Our WiFi is excellent and Verizon and AT&T; work through the park. Free cable is included in the nightly rate and monthly rates are also available. The three covered pavilions offer plenty of covered seating while the creek side campfire area boast additional seating for that bonfire.

The Best Camping Near Helen, Georgia

This is a unique campground where you can rent an airstream trailer. This place has been around long before the glamping air bnb fad so some of the trailers have some age on them but if you are looking for a unique ping experience this is a good choice.

Glamour it in an airstream

Contrary to its name, this once Airstream-only campground now accepts non-Airstream rigs. Call ahead to be sure/check availability (host phone number of FB page).

We enjoyed a month long stay at this quiet campground right outside of the Alpine town of Helen, GA. A peaceful creek runs through the entire campground. Some spots butt right up against the creek.

The campground features a killer library and DVD collection. We also enjoyed the covered pavilions with swings. A creekside communal fire pit brings together campers. Every month or so the campground host throws a fire pit night. 

Close to so many hikes you won’t be able to do them all. There’s even a hike that leaves directly from the campground.

You’re a 9 minute drive to Helen. It’s a tourist town, but has a small grocery and offers great beer and wine at the German beer halls and patios. Fills up on the weekend with visitors and (in spring and summer) tubers “Shootin’ the Hootch.” You MUST tube the Chattahootchee if you are here during the late Spring or Summer.

We always enjoy our trips up to this campground. It’s clean and the people are friendly. If you have an Airstream, you can stay here. No need for a reservation. The Wi-Fi is fast, and we get to camp next to a creek with rapids.
