Nice stay but long walk to beach

My daughter and I stayed one night in our Dodge Ram Promaster. The bathhouses were busy so we walked over to the tent camping area and used their bathhouses. From our spot it was actually a closer walk. They said it was a short walk to the beach but it took us 20 minutes. We rode the tram back because it was such a long walk. It would have better to ride a bike there, which was what most people did. Overall a nice park with cozy lots.

Nice clean park with mostly private beach

They offer a shuttle service to the beach every 30 minutes. The beach area seemed to be only campers so it wasn’t crowded at all. The volunteers were very friendly. Overall we loved staying here and hope to stay again soon!

Florida State park with best beach and biking

Topsail Hill State Park Santa Rosa Beach, FL  Great park! Tents, RVs full hookups, and nice cottages. We have a tiny trailer and there was torrential rain 2 days so locked up H@rvey and weathered the storm in a cottage. Campsites are paved or level gravel some areas are nicely spaced and private, others are very open. Only one bath house currently open but it's very clean, hot showers too. Bring your bike. There are so many great trails both paved and dirt. Bike or take the free tram to the beach. Beautiful white sand and turquoise ocean. No firepits. Free cable TV. Wifi at campstore that also has a connected coffee shop. Very convenient location with lots of stores and restaurants nearby

Long walk to beach

This is a beautiful park. Unfortunately the tram wasn’t operating when we visited in September 2020 (apparently it’s difficult to not spread viruses on an open air tram, which I find difficult to believe, but whatever) so the walk is really really long. Make sure you bring a wheeled cart for your things and preferably one attached to a bike. There are also nightly thunderstorms and biting flies in September who basically laugh at the Deet. So each time you get out of the water you have to reapply. The park is beautiful though. We were disappointed there is not a fire ring at the campsites either. Probably would not recommend visiting in September. It’s humid and so hot.

Beautiful State Park on 30a

Camped 2 nights over the long weekend. The campground was nearly full but our site in the lower loop was quiet and tucked into the woods. Our site was concrete but most were not, so very lucky. Bathhouse was clean and had plenty of space, even with the packed sites. Trails were well maintained and we took a beautiful walk to the beach! Only wish was that the path to the bath house would have been better lit, but that’s part of being in nature so we just brought flashlights after sunset. Cable at site was an unexpected treat for winding down in the evening!

All concrete roads and campsites with patio and picnic tables. No fire pits or rings. Very private feeling between camp sites with lots of trees. Lakes for fishing and a tram that runs every hour. Just a 1/4 mile south of hwy 98 in 30A.

One of the best.

Great campground with full hookups! Longer hike to the beach than Henderson State Park but everyone seemed to have adapted with beach cart trailers behind their bikes. Beach tram runs when not on COVID shut down. Some sites are close together but the south loop sites had more privacy. Great biking in the park and along 30A. Also has many nice cabin rentals. Beach is absolutely beautiful!

A win for us

The campground and park were beautiful and clean. There is room to ride bikes and walk/hike on the trails. The trip to the beach is a bit hilly for Florida standards and the walk down the boardwalk is a bit long, but the beauty of the almost untouched dunes and coast is worth it all. Typically there is a trolley from the campground but it was closed due to COVID while we were there, but we would have taken our bikes either way. There is a pool, which was also closed due to COVID. We suggest bringing your bikes and a light beach rig you can pull down to the sand. Topsail is one of our favorites so far and we look forward to going back!

No Person Available

We had a reservation for one night and on the reservation I specifically said we would be arriving after hours. The website said to call a number the day of before 5 to get the gate code. No problem, normally. BUT, I called multiple times that day and nobody ever answered. Then I called the general Florida Park number and the lady tried to help. She also could not get anyone to answer and said she didn’t have any other number to use. So, we just hoped to arrive and maybe someone would be there. Nope!! Arrived, gates closed, nobody there to help, slept in the local Walmart parking lot. 😡.

Beautiful beach, very well maintained campground

We love Topsail Hill!  We stayed for the first time in July 2020 in a bungalow.  Met some folks on the beach that convinced us to try tent camping.  We just returned from a week long tent trip and it was wonderful.  The facilities are very well maintained and having a laundrymat on site helps out a lot!  We did bring bikes and purchased bike trailers since the tram is not currently running due to COVID.  You can rent bikes and trailers there, but we found bikes with gears to be helpful on the hills.

LOVE this place, the staff and the volunteers - and will be back soon!

Beautiful park

We loved our stay here! Beautiful beach, trees between paved spots, bike path, cute coffee shop on site, bike rentals, & a great location! The beach is a a little bit of a walk so I would recommended bringing bikes or renting one there. The park is at the beginning of 30A closer to Destin. Many restaurants nearby & easy access to groceries.

Favorite Coastal Campground

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park is one of our top 5 parks we like to frequent. We were able to watch for reservations online and scored a site for ten days in late November. The sites are paved and level with full hookups (50amp electrical service, water and sewer). A paradise for those with large rigs. There’s foliage between each site providing adequate privacy from your neighbors. This is a great campground for walking/biking as many neighbors have their favorite decorations out. All sites are marked clearly with excellent lit signage throughout the park to provide directions. There are spherical lamp posts scattered every few sites to provide ambient lighting. The staff is informative and humorous at times. There were weekly nature series led by park rangers. Restrooms and laundry facilities were immaculate. There’s even a butterfly garden with a bench nearby the laundry house. Minimal highway noise can be heard from the sites. The most prominent sounds are those from the Air Force base nearby. Be sure to bring a bike to explore the park and access the freshwater coastal lakes. It is a long walk to the beach. We opted for the complimentary tram. During your visit be sure to stop by the Donut Shop about 5 minutes from the park, an excellent location for breakfast. Be sure to be there at opening as it can become quite crowded.

Gorgeous campground with nearby beach and bike path

This was a really great campground. Each campsite had full hook-ups, including sewer and paved patios. The sites are very shaded and private. The gorgeous beach is a bit of a hike from the campground, but there is a tram running from morning to sundown. There are a couple of dune lakes that you can kayak on, but only on kayaks rented from the park. The 30A or Timpoochee bike path is accessible from the park and is 19 miles in length. It is a really nice path, but it can get crowded with walkers and joggers. There are also some single track biking in the area.

Wonderful Park! Clean, Beautiful, Full hook-ups.

Loved out stay at Topsail. Went hiking every day through wooded trails, dunes, beach. If you have a dog, check their paws for those sand spurs--Ouch! This park if so clean and the staff and volunteers helpful and friendly. We arrived after the office closed for the day(5pm), but were called about an hour prior and given the gate code, so we were able to enter and set up. It was dark, and this is a complex park layout, but we encountered one of the campground hosts and he showed us to our site- real nice guy! Lots of privacy between sites, so some sites will have satellite coverage, but many do not. Close to shopping, restaurants and public beaches. Will definitely return.

Awesome campground at the beach!

This is a great location right off A1A and on the beach.  There are amazing sunsets to be enjoyed as well as great trails in the park.  The beach is gorgeous too.  If you don't feel like biking or walking - they even have a tram!  There aren't fire rings in the sites here, but that's not a huge problem.  The facilities are nice!  This is a really popular park so book well in advance or hope for a cancellation (we luckily got a cancellation!!).  If you are in the area, this is DEFINITELY worth a visit!!

Stayed here in August and can't wait to go back. The campground is very clean and has a gated entrance. The sites are large and have plenty of shade. The beach is a half mile walk or bike ride from the sites. If you don't want to walk you can take the tram that runs every 30 minutes. There is a Walmart nearby along with t hff e camp store right by the sites. Only a short 20 minute ride to all the attractions and restaurants in Destin.

Truly a RV resort

Our family has been going to Topsail since the first year we started RV’ing. This is not your typical state park. It feels more like a resort. It is landscaped beautifully. Has plenty of shade & separation between the sites. Not to mention full hookups! The park has a private beach with a tram that runs every hour during off season to every half hour during the peak season. You can walk or bike down to the beach (it’s about a mile) if you don’t want to take the tram. All of the bath houses are cleaned daily including the restrooms at the beach. The park also offers trails to bike or hike, a swimming pool, shuffle board, a lake & lagoon to fish or kayak. We highly recommend this park. But make reservations far in advance to ensure you can reserve a spot.

The trails are all well maintained and beautiful. They have paved and non-paved sections. There is a ton of biking in the park. I’ve seen a rabbit, hungry squirrels, and deer. The facilities are pretty nice. They have toilets, showers, and laundry really close to the rv and tent sites. They also have trams. The people that work there and the people that visit are normally really nice.

Special place!

I’ve been on a road trip for the past six weeks, mostly tent camping as I go. I stopped by here, after seeing the listing on Dyrt, without a reservation. So lucky for me they had a site available. This is the nicest campground I’ve been to yet, I was so taken with it that I’ve already decided to return some day just to camp. The tent sites are all separated and private, the facilities are clean, and best of all they have access to the most lovely beach! The beach backs onto the preserve so there is no development for miles. It’s a truly unique experience!

Topsail is one of my favorite campgrounds. We visit every year. Amenities I love are the free beach tram, the swimming pool, and free WIFI at the camp store. You will see a lot of people riding bikes here and you can rent them if you don't have your own.

You cant drive to the beach boardwalk and it's about .7 miles from the tent sites. We actually love this because Topsail beach is pristine and clean. The free tram runs every 30 minutes until 7:30 pm daily

tent sites are very clean and the bathhouse is scrubbed daily at 6 am. This place is one of the best if you don't mind the short walk/ride to the beach.
