Swimming, fishing, and Gulf sunsets are the main draws at Red Coconut RV Park, a compact beachfront property on Fort Myers Beach where a handful of sites sit directly on the sand and the rest fan out in rows behind them. The layout runs roughly four rows deep, with about 60 sites total, and the closest spots to the water are notoriously hard to book. Reservations fill fast, particularly through summer, and some regulars have reportedly been returning for 20 years just to hold their beachfront spots.
The sites are tight. Multiple reviewers flag the close spacing, and tents are limited to the inner loop or the section across the street rather than the beachside rows. As Joel Q. noted, "the sites are very tight as other reviews state, but you can't beat the location." RVs up to 52 feet are accommodated, and full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service are available throughout. Staff will assist with positioning using a tractor, which is useful given how little maneuvering room exists between rigs. Bathrooms are air-conditioned and described as clean, with laundry facilities located in the middle of the park.
The Gulf water temperature in July runs warm enough to float in for hours, and the beach is directly accessible within a few dozen steps from the front row. Sunsets face west over open water. A Seven-Eleven sits about 100 meters south on the main road, and the town's restaurants and small shops are reachable on foot, though bikes make the trip easier. A local trolley also connects to stops along the island. Campers interested in camping near Fort Myers Beach will find a handful of alternatives in the area, including Dancing Dolphins and San Carlos RV Resort & Marina to the northwest.
No pets are allowed. The park is primarily an RV destination. L O. described staying as the only tent camper during a five-night August visit, noting "it was a thirty pace walk to the sand" from spot 40C on the inner loop. The main road runs close to the fourth row, though reviewers generally found the traffic noise manageable. Book well in advance for any summer dates, and target the off-season if flexibility on timing is possible, as rates and availability both improve.
