Ocala National Forest's Lake Delancy West Campground sits on the western shore of Lake Delancy, surrounded by oak and pine canopy that provides consistent shade across both tent sites and RV spots. The layout feels open rather than cramped, and sites near the water's edge give campers direct access to fishing and a view across the lake in the morning hours. The Lake Delancy East campground sits just across the lake, making this corner of the forest a hub for multiple camping options within a compact area.
Noise is the most consistent variable here. The campground sits adjacent to an OHV trail network, and ATV traffic tends to be heaviest on weekends and during daytime hours. Weekday and off-season visits are noticeably quieter, with multiple reviewers reporting they had the campground largely to themselves mid-week. The Florida National Scenic Trail also runs through the area, giving hikers and those on foot a separate reason to base here. Bears are present in the forest, so food storage requires attention, and mosquitoes can be significant in warmer months.
Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, a dump station, and water hookups for RVs, with campfires and pets permitted. At $10 per night, reservations are available. Pet-friendly camping near Ocala National Forest covers additional options if this campground is full. As Natalie B. notes, weekday stays avoid the weekend noise entirely. This campground works best for OHV riders, anglers, and Florida Trail hikers who want lakeside access at a low nightly rate.
