Slice of the goodness

3/4s of the way through the 2nd winter with Patty and her crew. The campground is very well kept. All issues are addressed immediately. And the friendliest staff you could ask for. Events are planned several times a month. With a mix of full, part-time, and temporary guests all invited. Sites include water, electrical and sewer. Access to the campground is very easy, just off Hwy 1. This is definitely my 1st choice. We stayed November through March.

Convenient Kelly’s Corner Caravan Camping Cornucopia

Located just due south (approximately 10 miles) of the Georgia / Florida state-line and due south of Hillard – this respite is only 25 miles from Amelia Island and a 30 minute drive south to Jacksonville – Kelly’s Countryside RV Park is a full-service pitstop for those hauling their mobile living arrangements around. While a decent bit off the beaten path (that would be I95), if you’re looking for some good ol’ Southern charm, peace & quiet and some decent fishing and boating, then you’ve landed in a good spot of the country.

Kelly offers up daily ($38), weekly ($228) and monthly ($442) rates that come with all the traditional hook-ups (water, 30 / 50 amp electric and sewer) and all the free WiFi your personal device can handle (although I would warn that the strength is quite weak, so you won’t be able to stream or doing anything too fast-loading). There’s bathrooms and showers (fairly clean BTW), dumpsters, storage and even electric heaters for rent on-site, but there is no cable or satellite. Other amenities and features include: nice black pebble-strewn flat roadways, laundr-O-mat.

Net-net though, this place feels more of a spot for part-time (2 month+) or full-time residents. Sure, there were plenty of vacant slots available, but the community that is here has been around for a while and know each other quite well (although were very welcoming). Overall, while this place is nicely laid out, it also feels like they are packing in RV’s so tight that you can reach out and touch (or hear) your neighbor.

Insider’s tips? Here’s a few: (1) This place is not a destination, but rather a convenient layover, so biggest advice would be to arrive late and leave early; (2) Looking for a proper ‘watering hole’ and maybe even some nice live music? Then I highly recommend King’s Bar & Treehouse Lounge, just a smidge north of Kelly’s on good ol’ Hwy 23 (properly named after the greatest basketball player of all time, no doubt) and open till 2am every morning; (3) If you’re planning to get your boat, kayak or canoe wet, I highly recommend heading back towards the GA/FL line and drop her in St. Mary’s River or Hampton Lake – either will allow you to fetch some decent catch; and (4) Should you grow tired of frying up hot dogs and beans fireside, head on over to Callahan’s BBQ (just 7 miles north of Kelly’s), which is a main staple of the nearest town – order the twisted nuggets.

Happy Camping!

Clean and level, very safe

Northwest of Jacksonville, FL, not far from the Jacksonville Airport. Excellent cell service, both Sprint and Verizon - great for using a hotspot for internet/streaming. Park Wifi is too weak for streaming. Clean laundry room that uses quarters. Full hook ups with 50 amp service. Level sites on grass. Many residents and some snowbirds, plus short stayers and overnighters. We stayed a week unexpectedly after a city park reservation was found to be both unsuitable and undesirable. Gracious office staff and a quiet park. Go north on the highway it's on about 5 miles to a nice Winn-Dixie grocery store near Hilliard.

Clean and serviceable

Not much going on but the sites are level and kinda tight, but good for a short stopover or inexpensive snowbird escape.
