The Best Camping Near Jupiter, Florida

There was a ton of room for us when we went tp pitch our tent. The area also have plenty or space for RV and their hook ups. I would recommend this area if you love to go kayaking (also bring bug spray)

Lots of Space

The park itself is great, lots of killer mountain bike trails and the Loxahatchee river is beautiful. Personally, I hate the campgrounds there is no privacy and it's mostly concrete, they cut down too many trees. That being said this is in my backyard and I remember it when it was completely wooded, I may be a bit jaded.

There are still a couple of spots by the river that are good. Don't bother with the Pine Grove camping it's all RV all the time, no trees at all.

The boat ramp is great and has access to the Loxahatchee, inlet and intracoastal. Tons of wildlife to be seen from land and water.

JD State Park, come for the activities 

The park itself is a great park. Disneyland for bikers, beautiful river, and nice trails. However, the camp site is right in the open, no trees and no shade. The ground is just rocks and was uncomfortable. Other than that the park was very dog friendly and my friends and I enjoyed the park.

 Really had a fantastic time at this campground, I'm typically a tent camper and had great facilities. The cost of camping in Florida isn't cheap though this one actually had the value in it given that you could also rent boats and paddle up river alongside manatees to the wild man encampment. Amazing hiking nearby, the tower to check out, even a little mini museum with reptiles.  I enjoyed it so much I would go back. 

Great for tents & RVs w fun surprises

Stayed in the Campground closest to ocean but explored whole facility. Good kayaking &amp; bike walk trails. Nicely spread out so doesn't feel crowded even though it was. Wish there was more privacy with trees &amp; space but it's near ocean, not woods.

This is an awesome campground for family’s. Tons to do. We live the mountain biking trails. Perfect for all levels and ages. Make your reservations early as it books up a year ahead of time.

Jonathan Dickinson is the best local camping for South Florida.  

We have been at Jonathan Dickinson SP twice in several months. Beautiful, clean, and friendly!

First  one is few miles from main hwy with premitive sites for tents and small RVs.( can rent kayaks there)
We stayed there 10 years ago.

Last month we 
stayed in the Tent in the section closer to the highway.Very nice and clean.
Had fire and bbq with kids.

Great one night with kids.

This park is a haven for bikers and beach going snorkelers! There are 9 miles of mountain biking with trail skill levels ranging from green to black diamond, rated like ski slopes. They are lined with crushed shell and gravel which makes them flowing and fast! There’s also a pump track and skills practice area. There are 2 miles of paved bike trails as well.

Blowing Rocks Preserve beach is about 10 min away on the other side of the intercostal. It is a spectacular site! Limestone cliffs line the beach, and a hard bottom reef lines the shores making for incredible snorkeling! The waters are generally a deep turquoise and crystal clear!

There are two Campground loops. One in the front of the park, mainly for RV as there’s no trees or shade between sites. Because of the lack of trees and the location, these sites get the daily sea breezes! Bath houses and really clean and plenty of them. These lots are huge, with gravel pads.

Water, electric and sewer at every site. Fire rings, picnic tables and posts to hang trash or clothes lines also at each site.

the River Loop is in the back of the park. It has trees and shade but thecsites are a bit more like keyhole lots, very close together and smaller in size. These sites do not get the breezes as they are quite far into the park.

There is river access in the back of the park, with a swimming area, river cruises and canoe rentals. There are hiking trails through the park, and a tower perched atop of the tallest sand dune in the area allows for awesome 360 views. Horse trails and guides horse rides are offered. A playground and historical areas are also there to keep you busy.

We generally stay in the months of May and June as the ocean is quite cold in the spring months.

It gets hot, it’s Florida. There are bugs, it’s camping in nature. Bug spray is a plus, but strong fans seem to be the best way to keep your site cool, and big free.

RV Tent and Cabin Camping 

They have wonderful camp grounds and beautiful cabins. It’s also very family friendly with lots of outdoor activities for families

There are limited options for affordable camping in this part of Florida, so plan to book your stay here a while in advance as it fills up. We are lucky to snag two nights here on our way to Miami. Lots of hiking options and some really nice views. The RV park has full hookups and is almost completely filled with older adult campers high end big rigs. Clean facilities and level sites though.

Pleasant area. Book far in advance!

This park has a spacious modern sites close to the entrance. They additionally have another area with closer sites more rustic. Lots of bike trails and hosted a race when we were there. River access with boat rentals and tours. Fascinating nature center. Lookout stand for viewing g and lots of wildlife.

Large park 2 camp sites

Recently took a road trip from New England to Florida with my family and had the pleasure of staying here at the Jonathan Dickinson State Park.

This state park accommodates RVs, tent sites, and cabin rentals with two camping areas -- one (Pine Grove Campground) located close to the entrance, right off of US Hwy 1 and seems to be more geared towards RV sites and the other (River Campground) located about four miles into the park along the Loxahatchee River. We stayed in the River Campground.

Spacious sites offered: water, electricity, a picnic table, &amp; a fire ring… and grounds include two well kept bathhouses with laundry facilities. Trees were sparse in some sections so be prepared to create shade. Our site was visited by a young raccoon who didn't seem fazed by us at all; just wanted what we were cooking.

We only stayed for one night, so we weren't able to take in all the park has to offer, but we did walk some of the nature trails along the river towards the newly built amphitheater and swimming area. Unfortunate for us, the swimming area was closed during our stay -- which would have made the stay twice as nice… but the views were still incredible!

If we ever find our way back to south Florida for camping, we'll definitely come back here.

Family Friendly State Park

very clean and tidy campground.   friendly people.  restrooms were very clean.  

We absolutely love Jonathan Dickinson State Park. We camped for 10 nights and enjoyed every moment of it! The bathrooms are the cleanest we have ever seen at a campground including expensive campgrounds throughout Florida, California and Colorado. 
So much to do there too. Family or retirement oriented. 

Worth the Stay! 

We stayed in the Pine Grove campground with a tent... this campground was chock full of RVs and trailers. You can only camp on the gravel, not the grass. Not great for the bottoms of tents! Every site is close to the numerous restrooms dotted through out Pine Grove. The restrooms were okay, the showers didn’t always work and they were looking little tired. This campground was super quiet when we went. We saw maybe 2-3 other people in the restrooms and 1-2 people walking around, everyone seemed to be hiding in their RVs. It would be good for RVs, With full sewer, electricity, and water hookups at every site. We liked it because it was easy to get to and close to the 95 (but not too close to hear it). 

Good place to stop for the night. 

We love staying at this park. The Pine Grove sites are full hookups but have no shade. The River sites are close to the river and boat ramp but there is no longer a dump station so you would have to trek about 4miles to the Pine Grove dump station.

Beautiful state park!

There is water access for boating and paddling, mountain bike trails, a nature center, and miles of hiking trail to explore. They are also pet friendly. 

Johnathan Dickinson State Park has it all

Awesome park with so much to do. There’s bike trails and hiking trails. You can spend an entire day on the river kayaking, paddle boarding and boating. They have boats and kayaks for rent. There’s 2 camp grounds and we stayed at the river loop. There’s water, 30amp and 2 120 plugs on the pedestal. Only dump station. Bathrooms are very clean. Ocean is a short 6 mile drive. 

So much to do

Awesome campground. Very spacious sites. 
Your doors and slides don’t open on to somebody else’s site. Very clean and well kept. 

Two night stay

Have stayed here twice, about 70 miles from my home. Always tented in riverland as sites close to ranger entrance are rv only. One warning if you reserve through toll free service there is a $6 charge and they put me in a terrible spot. Ranger claimed only a few others available, but it was July and almost empty.
Finally got a good tent site, grass and adequate privacy. Restrooms super clean, quiet all day and night. 
Forgot my fan and almost eaten alive saved by Off. 
People in boat shop - store super friendly. Ice, wood, etc available. Took a 3 hour canoe trip , $25 well spent. Next day rented a bike. Good hiking trails too. 

Great tent camping and activities 

Great site for a day trip or a weekend. Lots of trails for hiking and mountain biking. Conveniently located but feels like miles away from civilization. Stretches from the ocean to outer areas. Shady Pines Camp area is best for tenters, with several tent only sites. The sites aren’t large but fairly private due to foliage. It’s only a short walk to the beach from there. The Lake to Ocean trail runs through here if you’re looking for a multi day hike with primitive camping, just avoid the wet season because water gets quite deep. 

Beautiful park

Spent 2 nights here to a full campground. Facilities all in working area. Large graveled lots with picnic table, fire ring and bbq grill. Sewer, water, 50/30 amp power. Paved roads with some paved walking trails. Plenty of gravel trails.  Ample restrooms and showers. Like 1 bathroom/showerhouse for every 20 campsites with vending, washer,dryers and book game share spot.  The buildings are kept clean.  Also a nice dump area.  Dog cleanup stations are along trails..   Bonus they have a clothes line at each site to toss your towels etc over to dry. T-mobile 3 bars LTE or -104db inside rv. Staff very friendly and helpful at check in. A place to come back to. They also have planned activities throughout the week. During work week you hear road noise from USHwy1. If not for the morning and evening traffic on 1 this would be a 5.

Extremely clean 

I loved this park. There was so much to do and so many different environments- coastal sandhills, upland lakes, and scrub forests, as well as the Loxahatchee River. The campground was really nice and very private- huge sites. We would probably try to stay at the other campground in the park next time because they have sewer hook-ups, but the campground we stayed in was very nice. We hiked, walked, and rode our bikes on trails in the park. There were trails, paved bike paths, and off-track bike paths. The campground is near Jupiter, where there are many fine restaurants. We rode our bikes to the Blowing Rocks Nature Conservancy(definitely worth a visit) with a stop at the Tequesta Brewery on the way back.

Really great park with lots to do!

We were at site 79.   Very large and peaceful.  Had a great time.  Walked and biked around the campground.

Very spacious

Stayed here during a very HOT weekend May/ June 2020. We stayed in the River Campground, lot 139. This site had a small amount of shade, so it offered some relief from the heat, but compared to other places I have camped this was very exposed. The bugs are pretty bad. Bring your OFF and screened shelters. No-see-ums were bad in the evening, and flies were plenty all day. Lots of ant issues too; we never had a problem with them anywhere else. Once you get past that, there is a ton of stuff to do. A paved and off road bike trail, boat ramps and kayaking, the Florida trail cuts through the park, so there is a lot of hiking. The shower and restroom facilities were kept very clean, and we were very happy with the cleanliness of the park. The off road bike trails are very fun, but just like the rest of the park, very exposed to the sun. This park would be best when the weather cools down in fall and late winter. If you’re a boater, you could get away with it year round, as long as you’re not tent camping. 

Nice park, lots to do

We booked a 3 night stay at the River campground. We liked it so much that we booked 2 more nights. It is very quiet and peaceful. A lot of trails. We saw a couple of deer, a snapping turtle, snakes and tortoise. It was great. We now know our favorite spot to camp in...but we’re not telling 😊

River Campground

For hiking, biking(street and mountain), paddling, boating, and a great camping experience, Jonathan Dickinson State Park gives you all of that and more. Located off U.S. 1 in Hobe Sound, this park and campground offer a variety of activities. And depending on which of the 2 camping areas you choose, you can also have a Florida camping experience where the only noise you’ll hear is the rustling of the palm fronds in the breeze.

There are two distinct and very separate campgrounds in the park. The Pine Grove Campground is located along U.S. Route 1 after you go past the ranger station. We looked at the campground from the satellite view on Google Maps. It seemed very open with almost no trees. When we rode through it on our bikes it confirmed what we saw on Google. Immature trees next to flat slabs with no atmosphere. If you want to just experience the rest of the park, or you are just stopping over a night or two on the way to somewhere else, this might be an okay choice. And there are more campsites in this campground that can accommodate Class A motorhomes better than the River Campground.

But if you want to experience the best Jonathan Dickinson State Park camping, pick the River Campground. The River Campground is about 6 miles in from Hwy U.S. 1 and rests on the edge of the Loxahatchee River. These sites are smaller than at the Pine Grove campground. There isn’t a lot of shade here either, but the overall atmosphere is great. Lots of palms trees, pine trees, and saw palmettos. It’s quintessential Florida. And there is no ambient noise at all because you are so far in from the highway.

Beautiful Park with so much to do. We recommend the River Campground

There’s not a lot of shade, but it’s an amazing place to go. There are many trails for walking and for biking. Great division of space between your spot and the neighbor. Has a fire pit, BBQ and picnic table for each spot. Sunset views are amazing. Felt very comfortable with my kids. 

Love this park

I looked up this campground on Google Earth to see what it was like here. It looked like a flat area with close sites near a busy highway. Was pleasantly surprised that the scrub around the sites is tall making sites more private that the view from Google.  This park has paved loops with gravel pads, fire pits, BBQ, tables, playground and  much to offer in terms of hiking, biking and boating/kayaking.

Better Than Google Earth

What a great experience, very clean, our site #4 was very private and with lots of space. There is so much to do, bike trails, hike hobe mountain, kayaks, boat tours, nature trail hikes. And if you take a short drive out of the park you are at the beach. 
It’s a large park so we drove to the kayak and boat tour area. 
We loved it and are definitely coming back

Great State Park, bring your bikes

This park was potentially one of our biggest surprises of any Florida State Park! 

  

I’ve actually driven past the entrance to this park more times than I can count, but had never ventured in nor made the time for a special trip across the state to visit until this trip. What a surprise with unbelievable biking and BIG OPEN SPACES. I was astonished to learn just how large this park is. I understand not why it is known on Florida’s East Coast for biking. The roads, trails and bike paths are great. 

  

We brought everything just in case and enjoyed canoeing, paddle boarding, biking, hiking and exploring. 

  

There are two campgrounds, one near the entrance called Pine Grove and one several miles into the park by the river, named… you guessed it… The River Campground. 

  

Many people recommend the River Campground as it is where most of the activities are including swimming, boat ramp, water activities etc. The River Campground for sure has a more State Park vibe and intimate feel. We were in spot#112. However when we biked through Pine Grove Campground we really liked the modern look, larger spaces and better air circulation on top of the hill. Next visit we will try this one even though most of the campers were BIG RIGS and we have a small trailer. 

  

Views from observatory are great and the park has lots of history. What a Gem for the east coast of Florida which is not often on our radar for camping opportunities.

Big Park. Big Surprise. 

Very nice camping place 

Have waited six months into our RV life to start reviews for fair comparisons. Spent 7 nights but in 3 different sites as over Christmas. This felt like a proper FL holiday. Easy access to the beach, great biking in the park. Lots of great coffee and places to grab food nearby with a sidewalk for biking/walking from the park.

Great place to spend Christmas

Jonathon Dickinson SP, Jupiter Florida Dickinson SP Large park with miles of paved and off road trails for biking and hiking. Lots to do, horse back riding, boat tours, discovery center, bird watching, off road bike challenge course. We've seen otter, tortoise, birds, eagles so far.Nice sites in two campgrounds. We're in River CG, more shade, a few paved sites but most are dirt/mud. The Pine Grove CG close to entrance, more spacious, not much shade, paved and nice gravel sites. If you get the chance take the river tour. We went on the one that goes to Trapper Nelson's place where you get a ranger guided walk. Totally worth the$25 fee.

So much to do in beautiful state park with river near beach

My kids especially enjoyed the pump track and the skills course. The campground was nice and clean. We will come back for sure! We visited Coral Cove beach in Jupiter while we were there which was beautiful and the Indian River was so peaceful and amazing at sunset. We ate at Dune Dogs which had amazing food!

Great bike trails!

A well maintained campground, The spaces are spacious , clean and well equipped. You can find Grill, fire pit and drainage for your RV. Park ranger are friendly.

Nice sites and location

We stayed for a quick 24 hour trip on our way down to the keys. Kayaking was great and the campsite was perfect and private. There is lots of wildlife present so be sure to secure all food 😬 Would definitely stay again for more than one day as there is so much to do/see! 

Awesome park with very friendly rangers


The park is beautiful, must climb Hobe Mountain, the views are stunning. From there you can see both the intracoastal waterway and the Atlantic Ocean in one direction and sand dunes every other direction. Great trails to ride your bike. Clean shower and toilet areas. 


JDSP-River Campground

Stayed at River Campground. The sites vary a lot in size and the booking website does not accurately show the size or location of each site. But still had a blast and spent some time on the River.

Great but buggy

Stayed at Riverside campground. Love going back to nature. Bathrooms clean and seems to be recently renovated. 

Amazing 

Site 36.  Very long and roomy.  38 ft  class A had no problems.  Roads wide with no trees blocking.  Full hook ups, paved, but no shade.  Restrooms are spotless, and have laundry.  Plenty of walking and biking trails.   Going to the river campground, you pass the railroad.  There are plenty of bikers there for the trails.

We love this park!  There are walking trails and biking trails. The sites are spaced nicely apart. The site is gravel. 


Love this park!

I did primitive camping... I was unclear on where to go, but did find the area just as it got dark (I was using a pop up tent and was ok).

Had a very relaxing and restful night full of high quality and undisturbed sleep.

I was searching for powerline road and figured out I was supposed to simply follow the power line!

Was a pretty place but did not like having to be so near EMF radiation from the powerline I had to hike under for a few miles... I also didn't like the 5G tower next door.

But the good news was weather was perfect! 

Cool place (high EMF though) 

The campsites are well spaced with foliage between.  The bath houses are numerous and exceptionally clean.  The park has many bike trails, although some require a helmet.  There is also a river running through it so kayaking and canoeing is popular.  Everything is there to rent as well, including bikes.  We spent 6 days there and still only scratched the surface


This Park is a Gem

Hobe Sound FL Jonathan Dickinson SP This park has two campgrounds. Pine Grove Campground, has 90 sites, it is located near the ranger station. These large sites have more space between and foliage for privacy. Sites have clothes line, fire pit, picnic table and are all level gravel. Very nice clean bathouses with family room. None of the washers and dryers were working. There's a playground and picnic Pavilion. Some road and train noise. Had good downpour today and had a little lake at back of site but within an hour it disappeared! Great place to stargaze. Saw a  great full Wolf Moon.

River Campground is more rustic, it has 52 sites, is about four miles from the park entrance, near the Loxahatchee River. Sites close together, no privacy. The River CG is great if you plan to fish or kayak. Close to boat ramp. Sites are dirt. Also more mosquitoes. There's major utility construction going on next to this camp right now. 

Good things- Miles of paved and off road bike  and hike trails, great bird watching, star gazing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing. Seasonal horse back rides. Fun and informative boat tour to Trapper Nelson's. There's a great learning center. Amazon delivers to Ranger station. Stores and restaurants a couple miles away.

Great to escape winter

We had a great time on our first trip here in our new camper. Campsites were very large with full hookup. There were plenty running and hiking trails. Our favorite thing was paddle boarding on the river.

Beautiful Campground

I spent a half hour writing a thoughtful review and organizing photos and videos only to get dumped out , losing everything.....not going to do it again.

Love This Place

Absolutely a wonderful spot in the brush jungle of so Florida. Extended my stay and was planning to again but it’s booked solid this weekend

Nice campground with good sites.   30/50 amp, FHU.   No trees for shade.   Plenty of walking, hiking, and excellent bike trails!   Very clean restroom with washer/dryer.  

Peaceful 

This park offers a multitude of activities for all ages. Kayaking, boating, hiking, and mountain biking are located within the park. The park is only 5 miles from the Jupiter Inlet and lighthouse with many restaurants and beaches nearby.

A gem to be enjoyed 

Just stayed for the night in between long drives. Got in late and left early so didn’t have a chance to really experience the entirety of the campground. Camp site was clean and very large, included a table and fire pit, easy to back into thanks to the size. Outhouse building doesn’t have any AC so it’s scorching in there, but was relatively clean. Was only there for a few hours but did see some rabbits and frogs hopping around which was fun for the kids. 

Stayed the night

Super clean.  Quiet. Staff is very friendly.  Tons of things to do.

One of the nicest state parks ive been to

This campground was awesome. We stopped here on our way to the Keys. We have a big Class A and had no reservation. We called and they offer a walk in availability. We got there right before 5:00 when they were about to close. There was a site for us! The staff was super friendly and helpful. We will come back when can explore their amenities. Highly recommend. Great for families. 

Quick stop

This is a wonderful park to go camping in. My family and I typically spend 2 weeks there every summer. The pine scrub forest makes for such an amazing adventure and perfect campsite experience. There are bicycle trails, canoeing/kayaking options, Hobe Sound beach nearby. I absolutely live this place.

Jonathan Dickinson Pinegrove State Park is among the best parks I've ever visited. The bathrooms are spotless, the trails are extensive, and the people are incredibly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place.
