Just off Forest Road 77 in Ocala National Forest, Fore Lake Campground sits on 20 sites spread through pine and oak canopy near a small lake. The US Forest Service facility operates year-round with both electric and water hookups available, though campers should prepare for a bumpy entrance road with significant potholes that can challenge low-clearance vehicles.
Sites offer notable privacy with natural vegetation screening between neighbors. Bear-aware protocols are in effect, with food lockers provided at each site. The campground accommodates various camping styles in the same sites - tents, truck campers, vans, and RVs all share the same loops rather than being segregated into separate areas. Restrooms feature hot water and include handicap-accessible shower facilities, though the buildings show their age.
Wildlife sightings include deer, sandhill cranes, and occasional bear activity based on posted warnings. T-Mobile users report reliable cell service throughout the campground. Nancy B. notes the sites are "very private" with minimal visibility between neighbors. The on-site host provides assistance and maintains the facility's cleanliness standards.
Campers wanting group accommodations can consider Lake Shore Group Camp located nearby for larger gatherings.
