We are known for our equestrian camping and trails and also hiking trails. Horse sites have tie-outs available, otherwise you need to bring your own corral. For everyone's enjoyment, including pets, please observe the pet camping rules found in the complete Florida State Parks Pet Policy, click here.
Pets are not allowed in any state park cabins or cabin areas.
Service animals are welcome in all areas of the park where visitors are normally allowed. Equestrians are required, upon request, to provide proof of negative Coggins test (EIA test) for each horse on areas administered by the division in accordance with F.A.C. 5C-18.010, 5C-18.011. >All overnight visitors will observe quiet time from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Noise should not carry beyond the visitors campsite or cabin during quiet time. Examples may include pet noise from within a camping unit, generator noise, music, closing car doors, setting car alarm, etc.
The campground is known for its clean facilities, including hot showers and well-maintained restrooms, which visitors appreciate after a long day of hiking or riding. One camper raved, “Great place to stay with nice hot showers!” The atmosphere is friendly, with polite hosts and respectful fellow campers, making it a welcoming environment for everyone.
If you’re into horses, you’ll love it here. The campground is very animal-friendly, with plenty of trails for riding and exploring. Reviewers have noted the abundance of horses, and one even mentioned, “If you are not a fan of horses, I don’t recommend this location, but if you do, this is a wonderful spot.” Plus, the sandy trails offer a unique experience, though keep an eye out for rattlesnakes while you’re out and about.
With easy access to hiking and biking trails, Shangri La Campground is a great base for adventure. Whether you’re planning a quick getaway or a longer stay, this campground has the amenities and charm to make your trip memorable.
