Where the Colorado River valley meets high desert terrain, Sunset Ridge Campground sits within Highline Lake State Park near Loma. This established campground provides full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, plus amenities like showers and a dump station for RV travelers. Campers can fish in the adjacent lake, explore hiking and biking trails, or swim during warmer months.
The campground accepts reservations and allows pets, with picnic tables and campfire rings at sites. Bookcliff Campground — Highline Lake State Park offers additional lakeside camping less than a mile east. Sites cost $36 per night and provide drive-in access suitable for RVs needing full utility connections.
Description
We are an ideal campground as a base camp for exploring the Grand Valley in the Grand Junction Area. Highline Lake State Park is a center for water sports as well as being a central location for the mountain biking areas nearby. We have 36 campsites to choose from year round; 33 sites are available for both tents and RVs; 3 sites are walk-in sites for tents only. Almost all sites have plenty of shade and grass. We have laundry/shower facilities, a dump station and plenty of water outlets; however, we do not have electrical outlets. Our campsites can accommodate both tents and RV's year round. We do recommend that visitors make reservations if they plan to visit us on a weekend between March and October. When you arrive at the park, our friendly staff can assist you with your Daily Park Pass or Annual Pass purchase. For your convenience, our Visitor Center also has a park store for items you may have forgotten at home and t-shirts to commemorate your vacation to Highline Lake.

We are here to help you plan your visit and answer your questions. Check out our website or call us directly at 970-858-7208 between 8am and 4pm daily. If your plans change and you aren’t able to make your reservation, please change or cancel your reservation so the campsite can be made available to other visitors who want to stay with us. If you do not show up for the first night of your reservation, we will try to make contact with you but if we do not hear back, we will “no-show” the reservation so that it can be reserved by the next visitor. Our cancellation, change, and no-show policy is listed below for your convenience.
