Santa Fe Trail (Top Site)

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Arapaho National Forest's dispersed camping along the Santa Fe Trail includes this upper elevation site, which sits more exposed to wind than lower positions on the route and offers open sightlines toward the surrounding ridgelines. Vehicle clearance matters here. Reviewers note the road is not suited to standard passenger cars, so high-clearance rigs are the practical choice. Campers exploring the area can find sites near Idaho Springs as a reference point for staging, with the nearby Santa Fe Trail Dispersed Site offering a lower, more sheltered alternative. Campfires are permitted; bring your own water.

Fantastic views!

Stayed 2nd night on Santa Fe trail up top. Took a hike and scouted an open site further up so moved camp. This site is a less protected from wind and somewhat less private but stellar views.
