Arapaho National Forest holds a number of free dispersed sites along this corridor, and this pull-off near Idaho Springs sits slightly further from the road than most comparable roadside spots in the area. The site has a campfire ring, room for tents, and cell service. Leveling blocks are worth bringing, as the ground slopes. Highway noise is present during the day but tends to drop off after dark. Campers wanting more seclusion can check Arapaho NF Dispersed off CO-103 near Juniper Pass, about 1.8 miles west.
